Last Friday, our team had the privilege to serve at Nourishing Hope’s food pantry. Nourishing Hope is a local nonprofit that is aiming to eliminate hunger and poverty in the Chicago community by providing food to fill the basic need of hungry people and providing social service programs such as access mental health therapists, job application help, and more. Fleet Feet Training x CES is a proud supporter of Nourishing Hope’s charity marathon runners, and also works with the team for a November food drive. #RunningChangesEverything

Owner Dave Zimmer was recently quoted in Outside Magazine. “Chicago is one of the best places in the world from May through October, with all its festivals and events,” says Dave Zimmer, “and the running scene is vibrant year-round.” The Chicago-area native should know. Zimmer and his wife, Lisa, spent the last 28 years opening Fleet Feet stores across the city. Employee Spotlight: Carly Orent Carly is a full-time outfitter at Fleet Feet Lincoln Square, and has been working with us for 4 years. Learn more about Carly below: How long have you been running — I have been running for 11 years and counting. I did cross country in middle school, high school, and college and have made the transition to road running. Favorite race experience — My favorite race experience as of late has to be my most recent one at the F^3 Half Marathon at the beginning of February. Running on the lakefront with one of my coworkers who I see day in and day out was a blast. It was nothing short of amazing to share a first half marathon with her. One item you can't leave for a run without — The one item I can't leave for a run without is nutrition. I love my Gus, specifically the Chocolate Outrage flavor because it tastes like chocolate pudding. Favorite part about working with our customers — My favorite part about working with our customers is being able to share my knowledge with them. It's incredibly fulfilling to see them light up when they find what works for them, not to mention when they come back in and share their appreciation in-store. #RunningChangesEverything #RunChi

Join us one week from today in celebrating Women's History Month! Fleet Feet Chicago is hosting a fun run and panel in partnership with Altra Running and Latinas Run to celebrate Girls on the Run-Chicago's 25th anniversary! Join us at Fleet Feet Lincoln Square for a run or walk. We'll run three miles around the historic Ravenswood neighborhood, and also have a 1-mile walk option. Altra will be on-site with demo shoes to test out for the run portion. After the run, stay for a panel discussion. The panel consists of influential women in running world who are committed to creating space and pathways for the empowerment and inclusion of women.
