TRANSITION FLIGHT | Midnight has completed transition flight at a speed of 100+ MPH – taking off vertically, accelerating until it transitions from thrust-borne to wing-borne flight, cruising on the wing and then landing again vertically. Here are the key highlights from this milestone: ✈️ At ~6,500 lbs, Midnight is believed to be one of the largest eVTOL aircraft to complete transition, which is critical to being able to carry commercially viable passenger payloads 2️⃣ Archer has now achieved transition with two different full-scale eVTOL aircraft which is well known in the industry as a very difficult milestone few companies have reached 💨 Midnight’s flight test program will now continue its progress with plans to fly simulated commercial routes to demonstrate the aircraft’s operational readiness, executing high-rate flight operations, testing additional flight maneuvers that will be used in commercial settings along with continuing to expand its speed and endurance flight envelope Watch the full, uncut video of the flight here: https://lnkd.in/gUVWu2QQ Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/g7PjbkHQ

There's a strong business case for air taxis. The technology is already here. We've built an aircraft to deliver on the business case. The Federal Aviation Administration now has all the regulatory pieces in place for our industry. Now, you're seeing us shift from R&D to the commercialization phase as we gear up to bring these incredible aircraft to market. Thanks to the All-In Podcast crew - Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, David O. Sacks and David Friedberg - for having me, JoeBen Bevirt and Brian Yutko on stage at the All In Summit for a great talk on the business side of the industry. 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐬 𝐅𝐀𝐀’𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐕𝐓𝐎𝐋 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭 After an initial review of the comprehensive final ruling, it’s clear the regulations laid out in the Federal Aviation Administration's SFAR align strongly with our planned approach to commercial operations, pilot training and Midnight's operational capabilities providing us with a more definitive path to commercialization. The SFAR comes ahead of schedule, incorporates key feedback from across the industry, and is yet another signal of the U.S. leading the way in commercializing eVTOL aircraft. Chief Regulatory Officer @ Archer Aviation | NED Board Member | Former FAA Administrator (A)

Our team at Archer is very pleased with the outcome of the Federal Aviation Administration’s final powered-lift SFAR that was released yesterday. This comes ahead of schedule and further solidifies our path to market by providing clear direction on what is required for the safe operation of eVTOL aircraft in the U.S. Below are our initial key takeaways on the three areas of the SFAR that our industry has been focused on. As you know, the SFAR is a huge document that our teams and I are still reviewing. We’ll continue to assess the doc and its contents and work with the FAA to develop our operational plans to align to the final SFAR. We look forward to being one of the first to pioneer eVTOL aircraft operations here in the U.S. 𝐃𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐬 🧑🏾✈️ The final SFAR (i.e., versus the initial draft) has significantly expanded our ability to use flight simulator technology as part of our pilot training and qualification programs. This includes allowing pilot trainees to earn credit for certain simulator time, as well as greatly expanding our ability to use simulator technology as part of a streamlined pathway for our pilot certification. The SFAR also incorporates several very workable options for training pilots in our aircraft using a single set of controls. 𝐅𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 🔋 The final SFAR allows aircraft to take advantage of certain helicopter operating rules as long as the operator complies with the appropriate risk mitigations that are detailed in the rule. For example, an operator may use the helicopter fuel requirements under § 91.151 if the powered-lift aircraft is continuously capable of conducting a landing in the vertical-lift flight mode along the entire route of flight. This gives us a strong basis to work closely with the FAA on our detailed operational plan for our planned networks to ensure compliance with these requirements. 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 ✈️ The final SFAR cross country requirement provides workable provisions and alternative paths that fit within the capabilities of most eVTOL aircraft, including Midnight, to create a safe and attainable pilot training framework for the industry to adhere to.

We appreciate the Federal Aviation Administration's continued partnership and proactive approach to advancing the eVTOL industry with today’s release of the final powered-lift Special Federal Aviation Regulation (SFAR). This comes ahead of schedule, incorporates key feedback from across the industry and is yet another foundational element toward our goal of the U.S. leading the way in commercializing UAM. We'll continue to formulate our operational plans to align to this final rule. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g7-yFEYG

Another step closer to bringing air taxis to NYC ⚡ Congrats to our partner Atlantic Aviation on today's announcement extending their agreement with NYCEDC and the City of New York for operations at the East 34th Street Heliport as they prepare to kick off a project to install charging stations at the heliport to support electric air taxi operations. The project is expected to be completed in time to align with early air taxi entry into service dates.

🚁 We’ve just executed the renewal option of our concession agreement with NYCEDC and the City of New York for operations at the East 34th Street Heliport (6N5) for the next five years. Located on Manhattan’s East River, this key facility supports helicopter operations around New York City, including vital flights for the NYU Langone Health Center. And we’re not stopping there — we’re getting ready to welcome the future of urban mobility! 🌍⚡ In alignment with NYC’s mission for sustainable infrastructure, we’re embarking on a utility upgrade project at the heliport. This will include installing charging stations to support electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, working alongside cutting-edge partners like Joby, BETA, and Archer Aviation. This project is all about innovation, sustainability, and making quieter, greener aviation a reality in NYC. We’re proud to play a role in leading the way for New York’s urban air mobility future!
