On Wednesday, October 30th, members of the Fontaine team gathered alongside representatives from Walpole Public Schools, the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), The Vertex Companies LLC, and Tappé Architects to celebrate a major milestone: the ribbon-cutting of the new Walpole Middle School!   This project has been a true celebration of teamwork and collaboration from start to finish. Together, we brought to life a 162,193-square-foot facility, merging two middle schools into one vibrant, modern space. From the groundbreaking ceremony in November 2022 to Wednesday’s ribbon-cutting, every step reflected the hard work and dedication of everyone involved, creating a welcoming new home for Walpole students and a source of pride for the entire community. We’re thrilled to have been part of such a transformative project!

Last Tuesday, members of the Fontaine Team had the privilege of gathering to honor Elizabeth Wambui at the Worcester Business Journal’s Outstanding Women in Business Luncheon held at the College of the Holy Cross. Liz, your unwavering commitment, hard work, and the positive energy you bring to everything you do inspires us every day. It was a joy to celebrate this well-deserved recognition with you. Congratulations—we are proud to have you as part of our team! #OutstandingWomenInBusiness

On October 17th, the Fontaine Team joined the City of Worcester in celebrating the ribbon cutting of the new Doherty Memorial High School! This monumental project, now the city’s largest school, stands as a symbol of Worcester’s growth and commitment to its future generations.   Over the past three years, we've worked closely with our project partners Dimeo Construction Company, LPA | Architects, and AECOM Tishman to make this school a living lab—a project built by the diverse community it represents. In doing so, we're proud to share that over 400,000 hours were worked by people of color, women, and city residents, and more than $50 million was spent with minority and women owned businesses.   Thank you, Worcester, for the trust you have placed in us over the years!

One week ago, Fontaine team members Elizabeth Wambui and Mark Abdella attended the AGC MA Diversity Summit, where they connected with industry leaders to promote diversity and inclusion—essential steps in building a stronger, more equitable future for construction. Vice President of Construction Management Services at Fontaine Bros., Inc.

This afternoon, Liz Wambui and I are gathering with professionals across the industry at the AGC-MA Diversity Summit to make connections and promote success stories happening all over the state. The future success of our industry relies on our collective ability to recruit, support, and retain a diverse workforce. The opportunities in this industry are vast but haven’t always been available to everyone. Our partnership with the AGC of Massachusetts, and the celebration of Construction Inclusion Week, is one of the many ways Fontaine is helping to create a pipeline of new talent.

Recently, Fontaine team members Elizabeth Wambui and Patrick Spellane attended the Construction Industry Career Night at the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester. They joined representatives from different trades, universities, and the AGC MA to talk with junior high and high school students about career paths in the construction industry.   During the event, Pat spoke about his career journey and his work on our Tyngsborough Middle School jobsite. As a recent graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology's Construction Management program and now part of the Fontaine team, he emphasized the vast opportunities the industry offers and encouraged students who are curious about the trades to explore career options within construction—you never know where it might take you! #ConstructionCareers #SkilledTrades

CEO Fontaine Bros., Inc. Fourth generation builder. Proud of our history. Excited for our future.

In 2022, our daughter Grace was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) at just 3 years old. T1D is a chronic autoimmune disease that requires 24/7. Last year, we decided we wanted to organize an event to raise awareness, support those living with T1D, and fund research for a cure. Saturday night, our vision came to life at the SOLD OUT inaugural Party with 1 Purpose, held at the Basketball Hall of Fame, with over 400 attendees including so many friends, family and colleagues who have been a part of our story from the start. Our family was overwhelmed by the incredible support and we're thrilled to announce that the event raised $327,592 for research and improving the lives of millions affected by this disease. Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and encouraged us along the way. Your remarkable support made it a wonderful night and we loved spending time with so many who have been part of our journey. And thank you to my wife Sarah Fontaine for her incredible work not just on planning this event but in caring for Grace every day. She is truly a T1D Super Mom! If you couldn’t attend this year, we’d love to see you in 2025! Reach out, and I’ll keep you updated once the date is booked—we're going to need a bigger room! Breakthrough T1D Fontaine Bros., Inc.

To close out #ConstructionInclusionWeek, we wanted to share some powerful words from our Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Impact, Elizabeth Wambui, along with pictures from a student tour this morning, hosted by Superintendent Matt Wilder, at our Crocker Elementary School jobsite.   To highlight the ongoing importance of our work, Liz shares, "After all we’ve learned and accomplished during Construction Inclusion Week, you may be wondering—what’s next? Each of us has an important role to play in making our firm and industry more diverse and inclusive. Every day brings new opportunities to ensure that everyone around us feels a sense of belonging.   We are fortunate to work in an exciting industry driven by innovation, creativity, and hard work. As we continue our work, let’s also consider how we can inspire and develop future builders. Take time to share your experiences with the young people in your life. If possible, invite them to visit a job site or the office to see your work firsthand.   Look for ways to connect with community partners who offer opportunities to engage with students or individuals seeking a career change. Together, we can—and must—do everything in our power to make our industry more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming, building a brighter future for everyone."   Liz’s words remind us that the work of fostering diversity and inclusion is ongoing. Today’s photos reflect her message: creating welcoming spaces, sharing experiences, and inspiring the next generation to see the possibilities in our industry. By making our sites more inclusive today, we’re shaping a brighter, more diverse future for tomorrow. #diversity #inclusion #studentengagement

For Day Four of #ConstructionInclusionWeek, the focus is on workplace culture. In line with this theme, our very own Elizabeth Wambui and Tracy Routhier proudly hosted the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) of Greater Worcester's inaugural 'Coffee and Conversation' event, where industry professionals gathered at Fuel America to discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion in the construction industry.   As Tracy, our Director of Internal Operations, emphasized: “It is embedded in Fontaine’s culture that we continue our commitment to creating an inclusive and positive workforce that fosters a wide range of knowledge and experience. We recognize that every person brings their own experiences to a team, creating positive impact and providing a well-balanced, robust, and dynamic team. Fontaine leads the way by attracting and hiring the industry’s best and brightest women and promoting them within.”   This event was a perfect opportunity to share ideas and reinforce our commitment to cultivating an inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives. We are proud to be a part of this conversation and to support efforts that move the industry forward. #WorkplaceCulture
