Fay is emerging from stealth today with $25M in funding, including a $20M series A led by our Partner Nicole Johnson. Fay's platform enables consumers to access registered dietitians at little to no cost through insurance, while empowering an overlooked, lesser-served sector of healthcare providers — registered dietitians — to build and scale their personal businesses on their own terms. This digital franchise model for nutritionists is proving to be especially impactful: Fay has achieve tremendous growth in a relatively short period of time and is seeing immediate resonance with its customers. We're proud to partner with Fay amid a time when nutrition is at the crux of many of the most pressing health, culture, and public interest conversations: https://lnkd.in/gVBzdXda

Managing Director at General Catalyst | Investing in Health Assurance

The secret is out. Working with the Fay team (Sam Faycurry Mark Stefanski) for some time has been a joy as they tackle the broken relationship we have with food. Nutrition is one of the areas of healthcare that is truly horizontal and there is a significant amount of work to be done to ensure people of all demographics get what they need. A core pillar of #healthassurance. Delighted to work with our friends at Forerunner on this problem space Cc Reva Nohria Nicole Johnson Chris Bischoff Hemant Taneja Elena Viboch

We’re thrilled to officially welcome Sam Faycurry, Mark Stefanski, and the entire Fay team to the GC family! "Nutrition is a core part of our Health Assurance thesis given the vast surface area it touches. So many people have broken relationships with food, which can often result in expensive health complications, and nutrition is often a critical component of chronic care management and recovery. Fay has grown rapidly to build a strong value proposition for both dietitians and patients, and we're excited to continue to support the team as they scale their mission to help people better eat and live longer." -GC’s Holly Maloney More from TechCrunch ↓

    Partner at Forerunner

Fay is emerging from stealth this week with $25M funding— and tremendous early momentum and resonance with its audiences. Fay comes at a time when America is clearly at a critical moment with nutrition across health, public interest and culture, as mounting evidence points to nutrition as the foundation for the majority of personal health concerns and chronic illnesses. The platform enables consumers to access registered dietitians (RDs) at little to no cost through insurance while empowering an overlooked, lesser-served sector of healthcare providers–RDs–to build their personal businesses on their own terms. Sam Faycurry, Mark Stefanski and the entire Fay team are a force — the initial market reception speaks for itself. Very proud to partner with this company (and Holly Maloney & General Catalyst) as they reshape Americans’ relationship to nutrition and restructure how RDs scale their practices through a unique digital franchise model. https://lnkd.in/gPJC4cva

    Operations at Fay

I never thought I would live to see the day I cared enough about something to post to LinkedIn but… A year and a half ago, I got on the phone with Sam Faycurry to talk about joining his small but incredibly mighty team at Fay. On the surface, joining a small team at a company with little to no internet presence looked like a ridiculous risk, but after we got off of the phone, I immediately knew that I had to be part of a company that I could clearly see would change the way we think about food. Completely and totally. Over half of American adults suffer from one or more chronic diseases linked to poor nutrition. I have watched so many people in my life suffer and not get the help they need because having a personal dietitian has always been something reserved for the ”rich and famous”. Fay is out to change that. Today, Fay is partnered with 1,000+ dietitians and serves 30,000+ clients. Fay offers a way for anyone to connect with a registered dietitian specializing in their needs all covered by insurance. For dietitians, Fay is a business-in-a-box to enable them to focus on the actual hard work - providing life-changing care to countless clients. Not only that, but I am also so excited to share that Fay has secured $25M in funding led by Forerunner & General Catalyst to help supercharge our mission: fuel the food as medicine revolution and make nutrition therapy accessible to all. The past year and half has been incredibly rewarding, challenging and most importantly fun. I am so grateful to work with the most intelligent and passionate people solving such an important, complex problem. Truly just the beginning 🚀

    Operations at Fay

For those of you who know me, I’ve never been someone who posts on career updates (in fact, I’ve never written one) - but today is a special day. This past year, I’ve had the privilege of helping build Fay and solve a problem close to my heart - improving access to nutrition and helping millions of people live a healthier, happier, and longer life. Eating delicious food was always on my family’s mind growing up. We savored every slurp of handmade noodles from 兰州 (Lanzhou), every nibble of croque monsieur from my dad’s Montréal cafe, and every bite of 肉夹馍 (for a lack of a better word, a Chinese burger). We knew which dishes tasted good, but rarely did we ever think about how healthy they were and how it would impact our long term health. Seeing my parents wrestle with high cholesterol, hypertension, and heart disease in recent years was heartbreaking and frustrating. We struggled to make dishes that were delicious and healthy but still retained cultural significance of home. Meeting with a dietitian for help (much less one covered by insurance) was never a thought that crossed our minds. My family’s story is not unique to us - it’s a slice of life impacting more than 100 million people just in the U.S. alone. That's why I joined Fay. And in the year since, the sustained impact we’ve seen on people’s lives has been nothing short of transformative for everyone involved - and we’re just getting started. A big shoutout to Sam Faycurry and Mark Stefanski for leading the vision for our mission and all the amazing people from our team that I get to call coworkers, friends, mentors, chefs, and foodies each and every day.
