That means you have a say in shaping kids’ access to food in your community. Introducing the FoodCorps 2024 Voter Guide, a tool designed to help you vote for the candidates who share your values. About us
FoodCorps partners with schools and communities to nourish kids’ health, education, and sense of belonging so that every child, in every school, experiences the joy and power of food. Our AmeriCorps members serve alongside educators and school nutrition leaders to provide kids with nourishing meals, food education, and culturally affirming experiences with food that celebrate and nurture the whole child. Building on this direct service, FoodCorps advocates for policy change, grows networks, and develops leaders in service of every kid’s health and wellbeing. Our goal is that by 2030, every child will have access to food education and nourishing food in school.

FoodCorps reposted this
"What will it take to get more vegetables and fruits into the hands of kids and families? That's, in my view, the core question." Economist and parenting guru Emily Oster has a terrific new podcast out, Raising Parents. In Episode 3, "Are We Feeding Kids the Wrong Foods," FoodCorps collaborator Vince Caguin and I share our take. Oster's conclusion? "If we are thoughtful about how we do things, we can make a difference. School food is a clear place to start."

Thank you Orgain for helping our FoodCorps members kick off the new school year with these amazing school garden care packages!
Team Orgain built care packages for the incoming class of FoodCorps service members to help them educate their students on nutrition and ecology in school garden settings. Each package includes hand garden tools, seed packs of evergreen veggies, some handy Orgain items, and a handwritten note from a team member. As a mission-driven brand and B Corp (B Lab) certified company, helping close the nutrition gap for young people starts with our products and extends to how we show up for them in the larger community. FoodCorps partners with schools and communities to nourish kids’ health, education, and sense of belonging so that every child, in every school, experiences the joy and power of food. Their goal is that by 2030, every child will have access to food education and nourishing food in school.

“The firsthand experience of getting a constituent’s message to a legislator; I feel like my voice is more powerful than I knew before.” — Former FoodCorps Alumni Advocacy Lead Each school year, #FoodCorps recruits the next generation of #nutrition, #education, and #agriculture leaders to provide capacity building to public schools. Now, upon completion of service, FoodCorps AmeriCorps alumni have the opportunity to participate in policy advocacy as Alumni Advocacy Leads! In the 2023-2024 school year, FoodCorps selected 17 alumni from 16 different states to advocate at the state level, supporting FoodCorps’ 2030 goal: that all kids have access to #foodeducation and nourishing, free meals in school.
