At GDC, we place a high value on the sense of community, particularly the remarkable community found in Franklin and its surrounding areas. We are firm believers that the most vibrant communities are those where individuals from all walks of life can coexist, work together, and prosper in unity. The availability of affordable housing and a diverse range of housing options play a crucial role in nurturing a sense of community, and we are proud to actively support a bright and flourishing Franklin. GDC has been fortunate to work on multiple affordable housing developments in our community (including this site) and work with some amazing partners along the way. Special shoutout to our very own Keli Frymire, PLA who had an opportunity last month to share the Harpeth Square development with her planning colleagues in Florida. She was invited to speak at a continuing education luncheon hosted by the Emerald Coast Section of the American Planning Association Florida. The development narrative discussed the project's vision, details for the entitlement and development process, and highlights the lasting impacts for the City of Franklin and the region. The presentation was awarded two continuing education hours for historic preservation.
Come Join Us! Emerald Coast Section of the Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association invites you to our Lunch N Learn! Our very own Keli Frymire is presenting. If you are AICP, you can get some CMs for this year. Confirm with Tim Brown, AICP at Walton County Planning (brotim@co.walton.fl.us).

In our work as landscape architects and planners, we place great importance on the preservation of historical sites. This practice involves conserving a location's physical elements and safeguarding its cultural and historical value. By honoring past elements with present-day design, we can craft spaces that narrate a storied history and establish a connection between individuals and their heritage. Through a thoughtful design process, we can intentionally craft spaces that help future generations gain knowledge from history. Our involvement in historic preservation plays a vital role in shaping the constructed environment in a manner that shows respect and pays tribute to the legacy of those who came before us. Working on numerous historic sites across Franklin, GDC values the delicate balance between innovative ideas and preserving our rich heritage. #historicfranklin #preservation #thisislandscapearchitecture #design #communityengagement

We love this community! (We are also slightly biased!) Designing spaces in Franklin can be challenging because they hit so close to home for us. We often interact with these spaces daily and crafting places for people to live, work, and play within our own community can be extra rewarding to see them come to life day in and day out. #franklin #franklintn #friendliestcities #southernliving #landscapearchitecture #urbanplanning #design #placemaking

Congratulations! Tackling traffic concerns is a significant challenge for the development community. While some traffic problems can be managed locally, many are regional in nature. By collaborating on a regional scale and taking advantage of opportunities for interconnectivity, communities can address traffic issues effectively, as demonstrated by the design and construction of the June Lake Interchange. This project not only generates economic benefits for the entire region but also leverages developer contributions to distribute the financial burden. The project has been a labor of love and a long time coming. We are grateful to be part of the design team and help the vision come to fruition!
We have a HUGE update for our “Building Refuge” campaign! There are currently two matches in place for a total of $750,000; we are so grateful to The Cal Turner Family foundation and Randy Clark, a generous Refuge supporter. Every dollar you give will be doubled up to $750,000. Once we have that, we will have a reached a crucial milestone- making our new mortgage equal to our current rent. We are five months out from opening in November 2024 and the Solomon Builders, Bauer Askew Architecture, and Gamble Design Collaborative teams have been working so hard on making our 10+ year dream a reality. Every dollar counts. Help us double our impact as we finish up our permanent home where we will be able to serve 5,000 clients and 42,000 sessions a year. We will also have the space to double our child and team program and provide 90 more counseling sessions a week. We believe that change happens like a ripple effect: when one person gets healthier, families get stronger, and in turn, the community around them becomes more resilient. Be a part of that change today. You can donate right here, or at https://lnkd.in/eU8H73CD.
