In 21 years of attending public education retirement celebration events every year, they NEVER get boring. I had the pleasure of participating in the Georgia Institute of Technology annual retiree recognition event this week, where I was humbled by the expertise & experience in the room - with one faculty member with 46 years of service! I can only aspire to obtain a portion of that brain power!!! In celebration of Customer Service Week, we caught up with Jay, Technology Support Manager for the Administrative Service Center (ASC). During our time together, we learned more about his role at Georgia Tech, his tips for being a successful customer service professional, and how he handles challenging situations. When asked what skills are essential in customer service, Jay responded, “At least half of the issues we encounter are ones someone has never experienced before. As a result, they may not know how to accurately describe the issue itself.
