Champion Shailen has always known who he is, and with the support of his family and friends, he is living life fully as himself. From dreaming of a career as an engineer to playing guitar and spending time with friends, he is showing the world that transgender youth are just like any other kids with hopes, dreams, and a deep sense of belonging. In an interview with German news channel ZDF, Shailen reminds us, "We all have to work together as a team." His story is a powerful reflection of the next generation work force.

The GenderCool Project is proud to have collaborated with the great folks at Pixar Animation Studios on its first-ever, original series Win or Lose. We worked with Pixar because we believe in the healing power of characters who represent real life. This series about a middle school, co-ed softball team offers a window into this awkward life chapter with grace and authenticity. The young characters in Win or Lose are heartwarming, hilarious, quirky, and real. They are your kids, your friends’ kids, and your neighbors’ kids. The character Kai is smart, funny, confident and kind. Like all middle schoolers, she's finding her way through life, and she's celebrated by her team, family, and friends. Win or Lose is a show about perception and empathy and thinking twice before you judge the person next to you. We encourage everyone to watch and experience for themselves this charming, visually beautiful series that helps us all become better, more understanding people.

Positive storytelling has the power to change minds and inspire action. We’re thrilled to share that two of this year’s GLAAD Media Awards nominees include the incredible stories of GenderCool Champions! Congratulations to Ryan Adamczeski on her nomination for Outstanding Print Article with The Advocate’s “Meet the young transgender teens changing America and the world,” and to the team behind The New Yorker’s “Family Bonds Protect a Trans Teen in Texas” for their nomination in Outstanding Online Journalism - Video or Multimedia. These thoughtful and moving pieces amplify the voices of transgender young people thriving as their authentic selves. Sharing stories like these fosters understanding and reminds us of the importance of uplifting every young person for who they are.

This month, we asked the Champions about their goals for 2025 and Lily shared her vision for the future. As a student of fashion design, she’s focused on honing her skills to serve as a role model for future generations. Lily sets a powerful example of what we know to be true. The nextgen workforce is confident, considerate, and determined to succeed.
