We were thrilled to see Winchester City Council welcome almost 100 visitors to their Family Archaeology Event at the Friarsgate Park, in Winchester. Pre-Construct Archaeology Limited offered a hands-on learning experience as young people discovered, washed and analysed fragments of ancient pottery, which were then used to inspire artwork in the form of pottery, paint and tile design with the help of local businesses Bella Crafts and Design junction Junction. The event marked the end of a six week long community dig which has been running over the summer months, with over 120 community volunteers participating in uncovering Winchester’s hidden history. The series of events forms part of Central Winchester Regeneration’s community engagement programme which aims to engage with residents across the district to discuss the evolving proposals to redevelop Winchester’s City centre. The scheme is being completed in partnership with the Jigsaw consortium of Genr8 Kajima Regeneration, PfP igloo and Thriving Investments.

Our team had a fantastic time at the Winchester Hat Fair, the UK’s longest-running festival of outdoor arts! 🎩✨ Despite the rainy weather, the community was out in full force for the 50th anniversary of this vibrant event. We celebrated the creativity on display and talked to residents and visitors, gathering feedback and inspiration for our ongoing work on the Central Winchester Regeneration project. Jigsaw by Partnerships & Places was appointed by Winchester City Council to plan, design and develop a new creative quarter for the city with a wide range of mixed-uses. The consortium is a collaboration between Genr8 Kajima Regeneration (Kajima Europe and Genr8 Developments LLP) and igloo Regeneration with Thriving Investments (part of the Places for People group). #Regeneration #Communities #Placemaking
