We help organizations receive more legacy gifts by giving their donors our easy to use legacy planning platform.

About us

Giving Docs helps nonprofits empower their supporters with free high-quality online estate planning tools, in order to advance the impact of planned giving. Our platform allows users to create meaningful estate plans that provide for both the people they love and the causes they care about. Our toolkit enables donors to create a legacy gift through a bequest in a will or codicil; to adjust beneficiary designations via retirement accounts or life insurance policies; and to make donations via stock gifts, IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions, and Donor Advised Funds. Driven by behavioral science in partnership with Duke University’s Center for Advanced Hindsight, Giving Docs collaborates alongside our wide array of nonprofit partners to transform donor intention into action, uncover new planned gifts, and gain valuable insight into donor behavior. Reimagining structures and systems in the nonprofit sector.

🐛 When I first took this job, over 3 years ago, I was petrified to make what felt like a major career change. Switching from a .org to a .com felt a bit like a betrayal. But what I’ve found, is that working in a nonprofit-adjacent space has expanded my ability to support the causes I care about and stay active in my community. Working with nonprofit tech, planned giving councils and programs, and partnering with organizations and other companies who are curious, flexible, and dedicated to good, has allowed me to grow in ways I could have never imagined. 🦋 Today, I am excited to announce that I am now the Chief Operating Officer for Giving Docs. Another career change that is again, a bit scary (because it's new and so official-sounding) but, because of the team I am surrounded by, the growth I get to experience, and the work I get to do, I feel joyful and honored to take on the challenge. ✨ Of course, a never-ending thank you to all the teachers, leaders and mentors whose voices echo in my head with their wisdom and warnings, to my friends and family who will keep me from going too "coo-coo" 😜 and of course to the partners and team that make this job worth it. Brantley, Robert, Thomas, Alison, Tyler, Gavin, Holly - It's all happening!

Obsessed with meaningful customer experiences. Bonne vivante.

Exciting news to share: I've been promoted to Head of Success at Giving Docs! I will forever be grateful to my friend Hunter Sears for introducing me to the Giving Docs team. The past seven months with this thoughtful, mission-driven crew have been inspiring. Working alongside smart, dedicated people and partners who are committed to creating a path for everyone to leave a legacy makes it easy to dive into work each morning (as many of you are aware -- mornings aren't really my thing). I'm excited to contribute to what's next, and couldn't ask for a better squad to share this journey with (Brantley, Robert, Gavin, Lindsay, Thomas, Tyler, Holly). And all the love, always, to Michael Perciballi for being my biggest cheerleader, who joins me in entering a new career chapter as he starts the second week of his own dream gig at Ecolab. Here's to more success, more impact, more legacies! #promotion #gratitude #manifest #givingdocs #customersuccess #plannedgiving

Driving Nonprofit Success with Fundraising Technology, Inspired by My Personal Journey.

🌟 I had the honor of speaking at the UPGRT - Utah Planned Giving Round Table last week! It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with all the passionate professionals dedicated to increasing philanthropy during my time in Salt Lake City. A special thanks to Matt Claflin, CFP® from Best Friends Animal Society for inviting myself and Giving Docs. At Giving Docs, we're always grateful for the chance to share how our nonprofit partners can better engage and empower their donors. My presentation focused on best practices for online wills and the impact of the Uniform Electronic Wills Act. We also worked some fun MythBusters in there. It’s exciting to see how these tools are helping organizations create meaningful, lasting legacies for their donors. Thank you to everyone who made this event so impactful! Looking forward to more conversations and continued progress in the world of planned giving. 💡✨ #plannedgiving #philanthropy #nonprofits #legacygiving #givingdocs

President and Co-Founder at Giving Docs-Revolutionizing generational wealth transfer in the planned giving space

It's amazing seeing Nathan Chappell, MBA, MNA, CFRE and Mallory Erickson's Globlal Fundraising.AI Summit come together today. This massive project is clearly step in the right direction for nonprofits to responsibly harness the incredible power that AI can provide to fundraising. I can't think of a better backdrop to announce our newest (and technically our oldest) partnership with Momentum. When Nick Fitz and I met in 2017 at Dan Ariely's The Center for Advanced Hindsight at Duke University (I was in the Startup Lab and Nick was one of my collaborative research scientists) we hit it off immediately as it was clear that he was focused on ways to improve nonprofit giving. I think I probably qualify as one of Momentum's earliest advisors-- as I definitely encouraged Nick and his team to take the plunge into the world of entrepreneurship. It's been amazing seeing the creative ways his company is pivoted over the years and the current iteration of Momentum is extremely impressive. A couple of years ago I encouraged Nick and his team to join Blackbaud's Social Good Starup Program where they won first place at the annual pitch competition- and the product is light years beyond where it was then. So I'm thrilled to get to announce this partnership today as I reflect on everything I'm learning from the summit. Things we hope to achieve through this partnership include: Identify Key Donors with predictive analytics. Personalize Outreach using generative AI for emails, scripts, and more. Automate Donor Journeys based on real-time behavior. Secure Data with SOC2 and HIPAA compliance. Build Stronger Pipelines and track planned gifts in real-time. Thanks to Griffin Bohm, Boston Nyer, Lindsay Newman, Thomas Perkins, CAP® and all of the other Giving Docs and Momentum team members who helped to bring this together!

What an epic week in Seattle for BBCON. Blackbaud has this whole conference thing pretty dialed, and I loved so many things about it but nothing more than the Social Good Startup Program Pitch Competition hosted by the incredible Lizzie Schaffer (who with Linton Myers unsurprisingly threw the best party of the whole week by far). As I learned 3 years ago, if you have an emerging company in this space Lizzie and Gabby are the greatest champions you could ever have. Seeing all 14 companies pitch and run the gauntlet of questions from Catherine LaCour and Jerry Needel is always so cool and I really look forward to it every year. Have to shout out our friends at Chariot and OpenGrants who took home a win this year (always great to see you Elon Packin, Salomon Serfati, and Mitch Stein), and . Ali Briggs Carvalho of LifeWeb 360 you crushed your pitch! Dmitry Koltunov of Arbor I love the possibilities around what you're building. Josh Kligman so nice to meet you and I love what you've created with Storyraise. It's always a pleasure seeing winning alumni of the SGSP program Chelsea Lamego, Alejandro Stevenson-Duran, Justin Goodhew, Moshe Hecht and of course Nick Fitz and Griffin Bohm of Momentum who were kind enough to grace me with their presence for the Fred Again concert. Andrew Snyder congratulations on the Constant Contact partnership, and can't wait to see all of the amazing things you do with it. Elizabeth Price and Eric Shekarabi thank you for putting together another awesome partner summit. Kalyan Varma of Almabase 🎓 always great to see you and thank you for being an example of what a great partnership looks like. Can't leave out our friends at Dataro who threw a killer breakfast party Aleksandra Chojnacki and Chris Paver you guys just seem to be having the most fun everywhere I see you. Huge bonus yesterday getting to see our friends at Daylight Advisors Dien Yuen JD/LLM,CAP®, AEP® Megan Lemieux Bell. And of course a major trip highlight was our dear friend Michael Pohlmann, CAP® joining Lindsay Newman and I for his first escape room experience. I feel so fortunate to have work that takes me on amazing adventures in furtherance of the organizations whom we serve at Giving Docs, and I am deeply grateful to the entire Blackbaud team for putting on such an inspiring event.

When Susannah invited me to jot down some thoughts about National Estate Planning Awareness Week, I was more than happy to oblige. Thank you to CDP and the public media stations who have chosen to partner with Giving Docs to provide their audiences with the knowledge and resources to thoughtfully craft their legacies. To quote myself ( 💁♀️ 🤣 ): “A National Estate Planning Awareness Campaign is about so much more than planned giving; it's about inviting your supporters to be part of a story that never ends – a story where their values and passions continue to inspire others well into the future.” Contributing to our partners’ planned giving efforts via Giving Docs has been profound. If you read this article and find similarities in your own planned giving efforts and donor base, there’s opportunity for you, too, during #NEPAW and with Giving Docs. #PlannedGiving #EstatePlanning #Fundraising
