On October 9 and 10, we were in Côte d’Ivoire for the inaugural Economic Development Assembly in Abidjan, which brought together 7 heads of state, key leaders from Multilateral Development Banks, leading private sector figures, and civil society organizations to advocate for The World Bank’s IDA21 replenishment. We fit a lot into two days, including (but not limited to): 💬 A conversation between our CEO Hugh Evans and The World Bank President Ajay Banga about the importance of IDA replenishment 💡 Multiple roundtables, panel discussions, and meetings addressing the opportunities for growth and investment across the African continent 🎶 A crowd-moving performance from Yvonne Chaka Chaka, musical icon and Global Citizen Africa board member ✍️ The signing of the Abidjan Accord, with support from over 100 African and international voices, including Intel Corporation, Cisco, Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, international NGO The ONE Campaign, as well as presenting partners Global Citizen, Bridgewater Associates and Harith. Take a look at some of the best moments from our time in Abidjan, and join our call for G20 countries to step up for IDA’s replenishment this December here: https://lnkd.in/eBpyHc7n
