We create an inclusive, supportive, and engaging environment for our students to become career-ready Civil Engineers.
About us
Look around. In every direction, you are likely to see civil engineering work - the roads we drive on, the buildings we work in, the water we drink. Civil engineers help to create resilient communities by building the infrastructure for modern civilization in a manner that advances the safety, health and welfare of the public and the environment. At Clemson, you have the opportunity to develop, design, construct, and operate the structures, facilities and systems that are vital to the economy and to improving the quality of life and our civilization. As society’s infrastructural challenges continue to evolve, we, too, must adapt to produce professional engineers who can be successful not only on the national but also on the global scene. Our students in the Glenn Department of Civil Engineering participate in service-learning, interact with industry professionals, and apply methods and theories to real-world problems outside the classroom.

🚀 The premiere is here! 🚀 I'm thrilled to share our latest video showcasing the innovative curriculum in the Glenn Department of Civil Engineering. Earlier this year, I shared some highlights with you, and now you can see the incredible work our videographer, PARREN SANDERS, has created. 🎥 This video features some of our unique projects and activities, including an exciting field trip to see the AMIC building currently under construction with DPR Construction in our sophomore civil engineering course. Special shoutout to Aleeki Thorne, Paige Woods, and Luke Hiller, our rising stars, for their invaluable insights into our program. 🎓 We are incredibly grateful to the companies and individuals who supported our program by volunteering for mock interviews with our students. Special thanks to Kent Nilsson, Paige Madrid Kegley with Bolton & Menk, Inc., Faith Elizabeth Turner, EIT with CONSOR Engineers. Your contributions have led to several students securing internships, paving the way for their future careers. 🌟 Thank you to our Advisory Board President Michael Mastro for your continued support of my work in our program. This video is the culmination of months of work and coordination with Parren and our talented civil engineering faculty, including Omar Amer, Pang Weichiang, and Ronald Andrus. Kudos to our faculty and students for another successful Springer 2 course. A big thank you to Pranav Ravibiruthoji for adding a unique angle with his melodic hammering in the video. Your creativity never ceases to amaze us! As part of our Arch Initiatives Curriculum Change, our students have plenty of unique opportunities to practice their communication skills within their technical courses. Professor Beckner shares one of those opportunities here...
This academic year, our Stormwater Management course at in the Glenn Department of Civil Engineering at Clemson University took a creative leap by integrating podcasts into our curriculum. Our students, future civil engineers, not only tackled the technical challenges of stormwater management but also embraced entrepreneurial learning mindsets, teamwork, and communication skills to produce some fantastic podcasts. 🌟 The result? A SoundCloud playlist that showcases the best of student creativity and expertise. These podcasts feature insightful discussions, interviews with experts, and a deep dive into the innovative solutions for managing stormwater in urban environments. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ePuvwT_K I'm blown away by the quality and professionalism of these podcasts. Our students have truly outdone themselves, bringing fresh perspectives and communicating complex ideas with clarity and enthusiasm. It's been a blast for both students and faculty, and we're excited to share their hard work with you. Kudos to our students for their excellent work, including: Jenna Scarboro, Rylee Holbrook, Griffin Clower, Cody Turner, Jacob Black, Caleb West, Catherine Dwyer, Matthew Saia, Sydney Hannibal, Josephine Stewart, John Hierholzer, Joshua Blandino, Seb Stafford, Ethan Ruggie, Akash Yadav, Kunal Bhardwaj, Md bayezid Islam, Suman Dhamala. A special shoutout to my friend and colleague, Farhang Forghanparast, Ph.D. , for his true collaboration, teamwork, and trust in integrating this creative assignment into our studio course. It’s been a rewarding journey! Additional shoutouts to Robert Osborne and Angela Gardner for modeling to our students that professional communication is more than report writing or presentations. We love your innovative and informative podcasts, The OutFall (https://lnkd.in/euYhV8Eq )and Women Talk Construction. 👉 Listen, learn, and get inspired by the future of civil engineering. Featured in this playlist are our very own Jennifer Ogle and Black & Veatch engineers Samuel Cabiness and Kasey Henneman, ENV SP. Whether you're a student, a professional in the field, or just curious about environmental solutions, these podcasts have something for everyone. If you would like to appear in a future student podcast, please DM me. Please take a moment to listen, share, and support our students' efforts to improve our world, one podcast at a time! #CivilEngineering #StormwaterManagement #StudentPodcasts #EngineeringEducation #InnovativeLearning #SoundCloud

Proud of our alumni accomplishments!
Congratulations to our Employee of the Quarter Brian Maleck! Brian is instrumental in assisting the department through changes and growth of the City. With staff changes, increased burdens from new development and also assisting with oversight of local city projects, Brian continues to step up to the challenges. He managed the staff transition process efficiently and with great attention. Brian took the time to study the previous documentation and process of engineering inspection and then put together a streamlined approach that is currently making things more efficient. During that process, Brian was also involved in a lot of extra field work and inspection himself, in addition to managing City funded projects that were taking place at the same time. Since then, Brian continues to be effective in overseeing that aspect of the department and continuing in training of new staff members as well as recognizing and implementing additional training as required. Brian continues to assist the city with many other issues as they arise and is deserving of recognition.
