📅September is conference season for us - and many others in the international energy community. We want to put our best foot forward, so please allow us to re-introduce ourselves. 🤝 We're the The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) and we are a collective movement working to unlock green energy access to secure an inclusive and resilient future for all. Clean energy is development; without it, every other form of progress, is impacted. Today, half the world’s population – 3.6 billion people – live in energy poverty, with 675 million people lacking any access to electricity. We're trying to change that, for people and planet. Our number one way to make change? Our alliance. 🌟 #LetsChangeEnergy together

🐝We're more than just buzzwords. In fact, at GEAPP, we're all about putting our words into action. 💪 As more and more corporate conversations talk about aligning strategy with international standards like Environmental, Social and Governance (#ESG) practices, we're teaching others what that means for us at GEAPP while learning from other great leaders. For example take last month, when the 💚 Climate Leaders Network 💚 hosted a workshop in Vietnam talking about all things #ESG and how to integrate gender inclusive dialogue into communications - alongside so many other great sessions. We've shared some photos of the event below, but you can learn even more by reading our latest blog, penned by our in-house communications expert and inclusion advocate: Vaishali Mishra. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/d7QUg7Td #LetsChangeEnergy #Vietnam #EmpoweringWomen #inclusivefinance #Corporatestrategy Christina Ameln Michele W. 🤔 What do these four photos have in common? They're all found in our latest report on scaling renewables in Northern Vietnam 🇻🇳, co-authored with Ministry of Industry and Trade Vietnam's Institute of Energy. The report explores the pulse of Northern Vietnam’s energy landscape as the nation accelerates towards its #NetZero 2050 goal. Key findings include: 🔌 The North has seen a rapid increase in electricity consumption, tripling since 2010. Yet, the power infrastructure struggles to keep up, leading to summer shortages. ☀ Northern Vietnam has significant potential for solar, wind, and biomass energy, crucial for replacing traditional fuels and meeting future demand. ⚡ The transmission grid in the North needs significant upgrades to handle the increased load from renewable sources. There is so much more inside the report, so take some time and read for yourselves. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dvBusCmt Together, #LetsChangeEnergy! Sunita Dubey Vaishali Mishra Umang Maheshwari Minh Nguyen

🇰🇪We're in Kenya this week seeing firsthand impact of Productive Use of Energy, or as we call PUE. We stopped by a few sites from our partners for more about how incomes are growing with clean energy. Our friends at Agsol are producing the world's most efficient small grain mill. With scalable solar energy solutions, costs are cut and profitability increases by more than 80% of traditional fuel alternatives. ☀️ Our SokoFresh™ partners are tackling post-harvest losses for smallholder farmers 🪴using solar-powered cold storage with Internet of Things (IoT) monitoring. At SunCulture, we're working together to provide smallholder farmers with solar-powered solutions for water, irrigation, lighting, and more. In Gataga, we took some time to meet with Peter Waweru, a small producers with solar water pumps thanks to our support unlocking SunCulture solutions. Thanks to this work, Peter has been able to diversify his products. He's a man who does it all now with crops of different fruits, vegetables, coffee and tea, but also expanding to other things such as beekeeping and fish farming. 🍉 🍈 🍅 🌽 ☕ 🐝 🐟 🐡 These efforts, catalyzed by solar, have tripled his income, saved money and saved time - at least 17 hours a week. 💚 What we love to hear most? Peter is proud of the work he can do and no longer worries about blackouts. Together with our partners, The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) is creating jobs and improving incomes across Africa by advancing the productive use appliance market. Want to know something extra special about this moment? It was our new CEO, Woochong Um's first official visit. 🎉 #LetsChangeEnergy #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy #PoweringAfrica #PUE Annette Mutuku Kate Wills Wale Aboyade, PhD Chianda Njogu Nchimunya Chipo Hamukoma Dennis Waweru Nderitu Damola Omole, PhD Fauzia Chevonne O. 🐸 Have you ever heard of leapfrogging? It's the idea that emerging economies can skip ahead of certain stages of growth, taking the lessons learned and best practices from other places. 💪 According to Kitty Bu, leapfrogging is one way that Asia will pave the way, specifically when it comes to accelerating clean energy transitions. We've already seen success working with -and learning from- our partners in Vietnam 🇻🇳 , Myanmar 🇲🇲 and Indonesia 🇮🇩 , but we know it's only the beginning. We put together a little preview of what it looks like, but Kitty shared more details in our latest blog. Read the link shared in the comments to learn more about how leapfrogging can change energy in Asia. #LetsChangeEnergy with leapfrogging Vaishali Mishra Sunita Dubey Minh Nguyen Lucky Nurrahmat Suka Pradita Smart Power Myanmar Xurya Daya Indonesia #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergyTransitions #Asia #EmergingEconomies

🔊 Sharing the stories of our impact is part of what powers us to keep making change. Take the work we're supporting in Nigeria, where we're partnering with RMI and Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria to help power small businesses with clean energy to grow communities. 💚 This project, called Energizing Agriculature Program (EAP) is helping create clean, green opportunities for growth. We're growing the productive use of renewable energy, with mini grids helping to power progress. #LetsChangeEnergy for people Annette Mutuku Fauzia Chevonne O. In Adebayo, Edo State, Nigeria, a renewable energy-powered mini-factory is transforming the local oil palm industry. Not only has the quality of the palm oil improved, but the yield has also increased by an astounding 40% per fruit bunch. This initiative, championed by our partner Releaf (YC W19), has been a successful venture, made possible through the support of the Energizing Agriculture Programme. This solar-powered machinery has proven to be more efficient than its diesel counterparts, both in terms of energy cost, as well as oil purity and yield. Our new report, Harvesting Sunshine, supported by The African Climate Foundation, explores how minigrid electricity is boosting industries like this one. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3MD3tSJ We’re proud to partner with Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria and The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to make energy cheaper, improve rural livelihoods, and drive sustainable growth in Nigeria.

🟢Fact: renewables make up 30% of electricity generation in the world (Source: REN21). But this isn't enough clean power capacity to meet global energy needs. Our friends at International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) published a report earlier this year - and have spent the last few weeks sharing the key enablers for success. One that stuck out to us? "International collaboration" - or in our eyes, ✨Alliancing✨. To help unlock the potential of emerging markets, we're working further and faster to change energy with the power of every single partner we have, and every single partner they have. 💪Because together, we can make change. #LetsChangeEnergy together 💚
