🌟 #MentorMonday: Diana Beketova, CFA 🌟 Meet Diana, a GMI mentor and Manager at Moody's, who excels at scaling high-performing teams across Europe and APAC. Through GMI, Diana mentored Jeal Nderitu, an Actuarial Science student at the University of Nairobi. Describing Jeal as brilliant, hardworking, and full of positivity, Diana saw firsthand how curiosity and enthusiasm make mentorship a truly rewarding experience! 😉 Jeal shared: "Thank you, Diana! 🌟 #MentorMonday: Himali Kelvekar 🌟   Meet Himali, #GMI Mentor and Content Designer at Microsoft. With over five years of experience in digital marketing, content strategy, and SEO, Himali demonstrates a special knack for simplifying complex products to inspire user action.   Through the Microsoft Africa Development Centre and GMI WINS collaboration, Himali helped Florida Korir break down the overwhelming job search process into clear, actionable steps. By simplifying the journey and empowering Florida to take control of her career path, Himali’s guidance helped her secure an internship, become a Google Developer Student Club Lead, and land multiple interviews—turning uncertainty into opportunity.   Himali on mentorship: "It's not always easy to find your dream job in tech as a woman and person of color. Global Mentorship Initiative is a global nonprofit bridging the gap between graduation and first career jobs for underrepresented young professionals from diverse communities. Through leveraging digital resources, mentorship, AI, and human connection, we are building a more equitable workforce of tomorrow's leaders. The Aspiring Climate Leaders from the Global South Mentorship Pilot (funded by Think Human Fund, powered by Concentrix), connects future climate leaders with career professionals in sustainability for GMI's structured, 12-week career readiness mentorship program.   This event is organized on request of the mentees and will be facilitated by Student Energy mentees Yusuff, Mariam Akorede (#Nigeria) and Ogugua Chukwudi (#Nigeria). 🌟 Student Spotlight: Cassandra Phung 🌟 Meet Cassandra, an aspiring data scientist and ICTC-CTIC alum whose professional journey has been shaped by curiosity, resilience, and mentorship. Cassandra’s GMI mentor, Mauricio A. Velasquez M., didn’t just guide her—he challenged her. Early on, she attributed her success to luck, but her mentor helped her see the truth: her achievements were the result of her own hard work and determination. He encouraged her to embrace a mindset of inquiry, where learning isn't about having all the answers but about asking the right questions. Reflecting on their conversations, Cassandra shared a lesson that has stayed with her: #Success follows conviction. In a world full of distractions, Mauricio’s presence and belief in her potential reminded her that true #mentorship is about more than advice—it’s about seeing someone and helping them see themselves. #MentorMonday: Ömür Sert Meet Ömür, a Sr. Global ISV Partner Development Manager at Microsoft and dedicated GMI mentor! Passionate about mentoring and coaching, Ömür has guided three GMI students from Ghana, Jamaica, and Lebanon, helping them gain confidence and career readiness. Beyond his work with GMI, Ömür is a mentor at the Dutch non-profit, Giving Back Nederland, where he provides business coaching to first-generation talents. He also serves as an advisory board member for the Giving Back Students Community (GBSC) Community and Coders Beyond Borders, an organization that equips newcomers across Europe with essential tech skills and supports their integration into the tech industry. Ömür’s passion for professional growth extends to his own journey. Over the past year, he has been pursuing an Executive MBA at the Quantic School of Business and Technology, further developing his own leadership and management skills. 💡 Ömür’s take on mentorship: "GMI has shown me that dedicating just a small portion of your time can make a significant impact on someone else's life."
