Today marks one month since the first of the Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires ignited in Los Angeles County, resulting in at least 29 fatalities and the destruction of over 16,000 structures. Throughout this tragic event, GoFundMe.org's Wildfire Relief Fund 2025 has been instrumental in providing swift assistance to those affected. The fund has distributed emergency relief grants to individuals who lost homes, loved ones, and property due to these devastating wildfires. Grants have enabled recipients to secure temporary shelter, purchase essential supplies, and attempt to stabilize during an extremely difficult time. We’ve witnessed an enormous display of generosity around our relief effort, with over 40,000 donations to the fund raising over $6.6 million. The support has been incredible, and sustained. Our largest contribution to date arrived this week – $500,000 donated by The LA Tech Community Cares Fund. Our mission is to raise money and distribute it quickly — and that’s exactly what we’ve been doing. We’ve distributed more than 5,500 grants to wildfire survivors seeking help on the GoFundMe platform, and via close partners who are also granting directly to people impacted. We’re working to get money out and into the hands of people in need swiftly and securely. As of today, approximately 80% of the money raised has been granted out. There is much work ahead, and we’re in this for the long haul. Please consider a donation to our Wildfire Relief Fund if you can make one. Thank you. https://lnkd.in/ehEBrnr6

  • We are currently supporting relief and recovery efforts related to the wildfires burning in L.A. County by sending emergency relief grants of $1,000 each to individuals who have lost homes, loved ones and property due to the Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires. We’re sending grants out as quickly as we can verify beneficiaries, getting emergency funds into the hands of survivors who are in desperate need of temporary shelter, food, clothing and other essential supplies. Donations to our Wildfire Relief Fund will have an immediate and direct impact on people who have lost everything, and nonprofits on the ground serving survivors. We can receive donations globally from individuals, corporations, donor advised funds (DAFs), and foundations. Donations to this fund are tax-deductible to the extent permissible by U.S. law. https://lnkd.in/g8fA8u3y

  • Each year, we launch a new Wildfire Relief fund, hoping it won't be needed, but preparing for when it will. Tragically, Los Angeles County is currently experiencing an unfathomable wildfire crisis, fueled by high winds and dry landscapes. The Pacific Palisades, Hurst, and Eaton wildfires have burned thousands of acres, destroying homes and businesses and forcing thousands to evacuate. You can support those affected by donating to this fund. We will send emergency grants to people affected by these wildfires, helping them get food, temporary shelter and other essential supplies. We anticipate incredible need for relief and recovery in the coming days, weeks and months. Thank you for giving generously. https://lnkd.in/g8qk4yy5

  • As the year comes to a close, we're grateful for the support of this community. With your help, in 2024, GoFundMe.org: - Distributed more than 1,500 grants to people struggling to pay for essentials like food, clothing and rent; - Supported 1,000 low-income Florida residents with $500 grants to help them prepare for hurricane season; - Gave 288 teachers grants of up to $450 so they could purchase learning materials and other resources for their students; and, - Sent relief grants to victims of Hurricanes Idalia, Beryl, Debby, Helene and Milton, and survivors of the wildfires in Maui, Texas, California, and Colorado; a total of 2,744 grants. Behind each of these grants is an individual or family struggling in the face of circumstances many of us will never experience. Their stories – while heartbreaking – shine a light on human resilience. It is our privilege to play a part in their relief and hopefully, recovery. An additional gift to us today will allow us to do even more. We know the holidays are hard for our underserved communities. Too many Americans face difficult choices when it comes to affording food, rent, heat and clothing. A donation of any amount to the Essentials Fund gets us closer to a $500 grant that can make this season just a bit brighter for a family in need. Thank you for your continued generosity. And, best wishes for a happy and healthy new year. https://lnkd.in/gEvJPxiS

  • Tomorrow is #DAFDay! DAFs are a powerful tool for positive change, and we’ve joined the movement to raise awareness and inspire DAF donors to lean into their power to support disaster relief, education, food security, and other vital causes. With DAFDay approaching, we encourage DAF donors to:  Give with intention – Choose causes that resonate with your values.  Support nonprofits that rely on your generosity to fuel their missions.  Be part of something bigger – Together, we can create lasting change! Right now, we have a Hurricane Relief Fund in urgent need of support. You can make a significant difference by donating to this fund directly from your DAF. We’ve sent out over 450 grants to survivors of Hurricane Helene, and will continue to do more every day as money comes into this fund. Every dollar gets us closer to another grant for someone who desperately needs assistance. Your intentional giving helps ensure we can respond to crises, sustain programs, and reach the most vulnerable populations. Thank you. Ready to give? Tomorrow, donate from your DAF and make a lasting impact. https://lnkd.in/gupmhv2g #DAFDay #DAFGiving #CharitableGiving #IntentionalGiving #NonprofitSupport #Philanthropy

The GoFundMe community has rallied to lift up the people across the Southeast who were impacted by this historic storm, raising over $5 million in just four days. But this work is just beginning. Our teams will continue to verify fundraisers as they come in and work promptly to get those funds out the door, as we work to supply fuel for helicopters bringing much-needed supplies to the towns around Asheville, fund repairs for the farms that saw their fall bounties washed away, and to help those who lost nearly everything as they begin to rebuild. If you need immediate funds to begin your own recovery journey or know someone who needs a hand getting started, visit https://lnkd.in/ejNEZtyd  to get started with a fundraiser today. If you'd like to help, visit https://lnkd.in/eupBq8gd to donate to GoFundMe.org's general Hurricane Relief fund, and we'll take care of the rest. This fund, which has already started granting out to those impacted by Hurricane Helene, is providing immediate relief grants through GoFundMe.org to people seeking help through verified GoFundMe fundraisers, and to nonprofit organizations on the ground providing relief.

The National Hurricane Center says Hurricane #Helene is forecasted to make landfall in Florida today as a catastrophic Category 4 storm. Helene’s storm surge is predicted to be up to 20 feet along some parts of the coast. We know the devastation that awaits homes and property that lie in the path of a storm of this magnitude. That’s why we’re asking for your support as we prepare to help people in Florida and Georgia recover from what may be the strongest hurricane to hit the United States in over a year. Every $550 raised into GoFundMe.org's Hurricane Relief Fund represents a grant that will go directly to someone impacted and seeking help by fundraising for food, water, clothes, shelter and more in the wake of a hurricane. Every dollar raised, minus a transaction fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per donation, goes to fund these grants. This fund was created to provide direct relief to people in need after a hurricane. Your donation will ensure this fund can support as many people as possible as soon as a disaster strikes. GoFundMe.org sends critical cash grants directly to people who need help within 24 hours following a hurricane. You can help by simply sharing this post to your networks, or giving generously to this fund: https://gfme.co/3zHEUkL
