The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with the Lagos Commodities and Futures Exchange (LCFE), has revealed investment opportunities in electricity. With the Lagos State Electricity Law 2024 now in effect, the state is taking full control of its power generation and creating new avenues for growth. At a high-level Breakfast Meeting, key stakeholders laid out an innovative strategy: Lagosians can now invest in electricity through financial instruments like equity, fixed-income securities, and derivatives. A $15 billion market is emerging in Lagos by 2025. The new Electricity Receipt Quotation (LERQ) Board will offer tradeable products like Power Generation & Distribution Contracts, Renewable Energy Contracts, and more. Investors will be able to purchase power directly, just like in developed economies. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, emphasized: "𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙚𝙧𝙖. Japan has unveiled its first solar super panel, with higher efficiency and lower costs than traditional solar panels…. These super panels are called perovskite solar cells (PSC), the latest development that would change the way solar energy is viewed. It is lightweight, flexible, and adaptable, these solar cells will provide a more viable means to producing energy within a city, thereby solving the problem to shortages of land Because of its lightness, bendability, and flexibility in manufacturing, PSCs can be installed on walls of buildings and windows, on car roofs, and on street lights, allowing these surfaces to be utilized for energy harvesting This development has the potential to revolutionize energy solutions worldwide, especially in Africa, where we are in dear need of clean energy. The solar super panel can: ✅Convert more sunlight into energy, making it a reliable solution for diverse climates. ✅ Lower production costs could make solar energy more accessible to communities across Africa. ✅Reduce carbon footprints while delivering sustainable energy solutions. ✅Be used in urban and rural settings, bridging energy gaps across the continent.
