Investing in the power of women to end poverty in our lifetime.
About us
Grameen Foundation is a global nonprofit dedicated to ending poverty in our lifetime by investing in the power of women. By enabling new systems of support, we ensure women can access their full potential and build resilience against climate change, financial insecurity, and harmful gender archetypes. Utilizing our expertise and partnerships, we connect poor rural women to essential financial, health and agricultural products and services, while building empowering ecosystems that support her breakthrough. This ecosystem includes strong peer networks, promotes gender equity, and provides information, expertise and market access for poor rural communities. In 2016, Grameen Foundation and the global nonprofit Freedom from Hunger joined forces under the banner of Grameen Foundation. Founded in 1946 under the name of Meals for Millions, throughout its 70 years Freedom from Hunger never hesitated to embrace any change that would further its mission of ending hunger and poverty.

With women currently making up less than one-third of the global technology workforce, it's clear we have untapped talent that could drive extraordinary growth and innovation. By overcoming barriers such as stereotypes, inadequate mentorship, and limited access to education, we can unlock this potential. Kicking off The AI Forward Alliance (TAIFA) event with a welcome address was a moment of pride and purpose. The forum led discussions on gender equality in AI and launched an insightful Women in AI report. The report showcases successful interventions, like Technovation's partnership with Shopify and the Grameen Foundation's programs in Uganda and Ghana, proving that mentorship and skilling programs are game changers for young women in technology. For a deep dive into the roadmap on how to double the presence of women in tech by 2038, read the report (https://lnkd.in/gRvtZxkh) and join forces in fostering a globally inclusive AI community where women are recognized as vital contributors. #DiversityInAI #TechEducation #AIForAll #EmpowermentThroughAI #WomenAndAI #TAIFAGlobal EYWomenInTech #EYRipples EY #Technovation Eileen Hahn, Gillian Hinde, Laura Turkington, Abi Gooch, Ariel Stern, Sheri R. Today, on the International Day of Care and Support, UN Women emphasizes the essential connection between societal well-being, economic prosperity, and equitable resource allocation. Recognizing and addressing care disparities is critical to reducing gender inequality and poverty, as it is a fundamental human right. For those interested in further exploring this, the report "Six Global Trends in Health Equity" highlights key trends, including increasing calls for equitable care work. Women are disproportionately impacted by war, yet remain vastly underrepresented in leadership discussions on peace and security. Despite constant calls for increased female representation, only around ~10% of speakers at the recent UN General Assembly were women. While I respect the United Nations and U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres, my sincere plea is that we move beyond stating the obvious...it’s time to walk the talk! Ensuring that women have a seat at the table isn't just symbolic; it's essential for creating lasting peace and inclusive policies.Grameen Foundation

We believe, that children, youth and nature thrive within inclusive, sustainable, and equitable climate-resilient systems. We can achieve this with bettter understanding of the future directions and priorities in climate finance. As we work towards realizing focus on child-centered climate action. We convened a panel discussion on *Future-Proofing Asia: Child-Centric Climate Action and Financing* to bring together thought leaders, corporate partners, and climate finance experts to explore how child-focused initiatives can drive meaningful climate action across the region. This is a timely conversation as increased discussions and decisions on climate finance will be held between November to December 2024 due to the upcoming high-level UN Conference of Parties(COP) - UN Climate Change Conference- COP29, Convention on Bio Diversity- COP16, and UN Convention on Combating Desertification- COP16. #ClimateAction #ChildCentric #FutureProofing #ClimateFinance #SustainableDevelopment #YouthEngagement Asian Development Bank (ADB) Land Bank of the Philippines (Official) Global Green Growth Institute Livelihoods Venture Grameen Foundation ChildFund Philippines

Financial abuse can be difficult to recognize, but with the right tools and knowledge, financial service providers are well positioned to identify and combat this threat to many people’s well-being. In this FinDev blog, Elisabeth Rhyne shares 3 key lessons from the Smart Campaign’s experience with consumer protection to be applied to tackle financial abuse. She argues that "Supporting a campaign against financial abuse would be an excellent investment in the well-being of the people we seek to serve." 🛡️ Check out the blog here: https://lnkd.in/dHxCyy-X #FinancialAbuse #ConsumerProtection #FinancialServiceProviders #FSPs Grameen Foundation

Despite #women being the backbone of agriculture, their participation in agri-tech remains limited due to restricted access to technology and training, which keeps them in labor-intensive roles. By equipping women with the skills to adopt modern farming technologies, we can enhance productivity and promote a more inclusive agricultural landscape where their contributions are fully recognized and valued. To address this gap, the second phase of the Market Access eNabled by Digital Innovation in India (#MANDI-II) project is actively enabling farmers—particularly women—through practical demonstrations of modern farming technologies. As part of this initiative, the team successfully conducted 10 power weeder demonstrations across three districts—Mirzapur, Varanasi, and Sonbhadra—engaging 10 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs): Nav Chetna Agro Producer FPCL, Vindhya Sabji Evan Beej PCL, Mirzapur Jaiv Urja FPCL, Agrimitra FPCL, Sonanchal FPCL, Kashivishwanath FPCL, Namami Gange FPCL, Narikisan FPCL, Banaras Organo FPCL, and Pro Kashi FPCL. With the participation of 497 farmers, including 186 women farmers, these demonstrations aimed not only to benefit agriculture through advanced technologies but also to reduce drudgery, enhance efficiency, and promote the adoption of women-friendly agri-tech solutions, ensuring a more inclusive agricultural future that helps close the gender gap in agriculture, to which we are fully committed. #Inclusiveagriculture #womenfarmers #SustainableFarming #GrameenFoundation #MANDI Bharati Joshi Arindam Dasgupta Shatarupa Kashyap Anita Yadav Devendra Mehta Anupama Verma
