50-60 million Americans are juggling both work and family care, and companies are paying the price. According to Harvard Business School’s Joseph Fuller, care-related issues are the #1 reason employees leave the workforce, costing businesses up to 100% of annual compensation to replace senior workers. "There’s a very substantial cost of replacing a worker... Employers often don’t realize the hidden costs they’re paying due to caregiving conflicts." At Grayce, we help organizations rethink their approach by offering tailored family care solutions that keep employees engaged, productive, and loyal. 3 in 4 employees may be juggling caregiving responsibilities outside of work. But do you know who they’re caring for—and if your benefits strategy is meeting their needs? Contrary to popular belief, more employees are caring for aging parents than children. Their needs are often overlooked, leading to decreased satisfaction, lost productivity, and even attrition. In fact, caring for a loved one is now the #1 reason talent is leaving the workforce, behind early retirement. Employers are losing $44 billion annually due to caregiver absenteeism and turnover. And with 70 million Americans forecasted to turn 65 by 2030, the time to act is now. ⬇ Download our latest infographic to uncover the hidden needs of your workforce and learn how you can better support employees and their families: https://lnkd.in/gZapdyMd #Grayce #FamilyCare #EmployeeWellbeing

Employees caring for adult or aging family members are facing unique challenges—and they’re not feeling adequately supported. 45% of employees hesitate to discuss their family care responsibilities at work due to concerns about how they’ll be perceived. And it’s no wonder—1 in 5 employees don’t believe their employers truly care about their dual roles. While many organizations have made strides in supporting employees with childcare needs, 80% of those caring for adult family members report that companies are more understanding of childcare than adult family care responsibilities. In fact, employees caring for adults are 22% less satisfied with the support they receive compared to those caring for children. The result? A workforce under pressure and in need of more robust, inclusive family care benefits. ⬇️ Download our infographic to explore how organizations can better support employees caring for adults and improve employee well-being: https://lnkd.in/g98QHdWe #Grayce #WorkplaceInclusion #FamilyCare

A new report from KPMG reveals just how much the child care crisis is costing U.S. businesses and workers. Every month, 1.2 to 1.5 million workers either reduce their hours or shift to part-time due to child care issues, leading to productivity losses ranging between 26 million and 1.4 billion hours annually. Women, who represent 70% of those impacted, face the brunt of this crisis. Our Co-Founder and CEO, Julia Cohen Sebastien reflects on this challenge in a recent article by Forbes, noting: "Employers often don’t have great data specifically on caregivers within their workforce. As a result, they don’t understand the size of the challenge until they visibly witness people missing work." This powerful insight reminds us that child care challenges don’t just affect individual families—they’re a business issue too. Understanding and addressing these gaps can help businesses avoid costly talent replacement and burnout. 🔍 Is your organization equipped to tackle the child care crisis? Did you know? Over 10,000 behavioral health apps have been developed since the pandemic, but there is still a long way to go to fully integrate these technologies into the daily operations of social workers. As Danika Mills, MSW, LCSW (Head of Care Operations) points out in her recent article, the social work profession is facing a critical moment. Social workers are uniquely positioned to lead the integration of technology in care, thanks to their problem-solving, systems-thinking, and advocacy skills. But without the right training and support, their potential is underutilized in a world that increasingly relies on digital solutions. At Grayce, we believe that social workers are essential to closing care gaps and addressing the needs of underserved populations. By supporting their roles in multidisciplinary teams—whether in implementation, product development, or data analysis—we can help drive better health outcomes for all. Employers have a key role to play in this transformation, ensuring that social workers receive the ongoing education and tools needed to thrive in this tech-driven landscape. Family care responsibilities are driving many employees to consider leaving the workforce, with significant consequences for both individuals and employers. 57% of those with family care duties are contemplating quitting their jobs, and they’re 3.4 times more likely to resign during a leave of absence. This results in the loss of 650,000 jobs annually as employees leave the workforce to manage their care responsibilities. To address this, 73% of employers are planning changes to leave programs over the next two years to help retain these valuable employees. Proactive support, such as family care benefits, can help reduce the need for extended leaves of absence and minimize time away, allowing employees to better balance their work and personal responsibilities. Understanding and addressing the challenges employees face with family care is crucial for improving retention, reducing time away from work, and maintaining a strong, engaged workforce. ⬇️ Download our infographic to explore the full impact of family care on the workforce and how employers can respond: https://lnkd.in/g98QHdWe #Grayce #CaregiverSupport #EmployeeWellbeing

Grayce and Parentaly took the stage at the Innovation Roundtable, A World 50 Group Community. Our discussion explored the intersection of DEI and caregiving—a powerful and often overlooked connection. In a recent interview with Forbes and Maggie McGrath, Julia Cohen Sebastien, CEO & Co-Founder of Grayce, shared her personal journey of growing up with a loved one battling cancer—without health insurance—and how this experience shaped her understanding of healthcare access, public and private sector options, and its profound impact on families: "Seeing how that affected not just my immediate family, but our extended family changed how I view access to care. It influenced the decisions everyone made and shaped my belief that everyone deserves proper care." Years later, while leading Grayce and preparing for the arrival of her child, Julia once again found herself balancing family responsibilities with the demands of running a company. This firsthand experience drove her to create solutions with her co-founder rooted in social work principles—helping employers support their workforce as they manage family care and professional responsibilities. Grayce helps companies provide meaningful support to employees facing these challenges, ultimately improving retention, engagement, and productivity. Julia emphasized that addressing this growing issue requires collaboration between businesses and government to create lasting change. Family care needs are often overlooked—but they have a major impact on employees and company culture, especially for women and underrepresented groups. Employees managing family care are facing substantial financial challenges—women alone may lose an average of $295K in lifetime wages due to family care duties. Additionally, 47% of Black and 33% of Hispanic household income is directed toward family care expenses, compared to 18% for White households. For employers, the impact is also significant: women are 5x-8x more likely than men to see their employment affected, and 30% of full-time employees who quit or reduce their hours are from underrepresented groups. The solution? Comprehensive family care benefits like Grayce can foster a more inclusive culture, support employee retention, and enhance well-being, all while addressing key diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities. ⬇️ Download our latest infographic to see how care disproportionately impacts under-represented groups and how employers can make a meaningful difference: https://lnkd.in/g98QHdWe #Grayce #HealthEquity #EmployeeWellness

The U.S. workforce shouldn't have to choose between their careers and family care. In a recent article published by MedCity News, Grayce's Danika Mills (Head of Care Operations) shares her personal journey balancing family care responsibilities with a demanding career, highlighting a reality that millions of employees face every day. Danika's insights are a call to action for employers and policymakers alike. At Grayce, our comprehensive social care model helps employees manage family care while staying engaged at work. Many organizations struggle to meet the needs of employees juggling caregiving and work, often relying on outdated, one-size-fits-all solutions. We bring it all together—providing expert guidance and personalized care solutions that empower employees to succeed at both work and home without compromising their obligations. As Danika mentioned in the article: “If sufficient balance between work and family responsibilities is not achieved, employees face the risk of becoming patients themselves.” We help employees reduce stress, and employers create more inclusive workplaces while improving retention.
