We celebrated #NationalAviationWeek with a week full of festivities! Yesterday, we took aviation enthusiasts on a special tour of our airport, where they got to dive into our rich history and innovative design. 📷✈️ Attendees also had the chance to chat with our airport leaders and gain valuable insight into the world of aviation. The day wrapped up with an exciting airfield tour, complete with runway action and a surprise visit from a military aircraft. A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this tour an unforgettable one.

Yesterday, employees of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) had the privilege of volunteering at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Yesterday, it was all about the fun in the sun as GOAA employees were treated to a Summer ice cream social, complete with the chance to dunk members of the GOAA leadership team. All proceeds benefitted the Heart Walk fundraiser with American Heart Association. Our heartfelt thanks to all who participated in the festivities and made a splash for a great cause!

Recently, we hosted a reception for the poets whose works are featured in the "Words & Wonders: Flight Edition" Exhibit displayed at our airport, in partnership with City of Orlando. The evening kicked off with delicious treats followed by readings from each of the poets, including a poem from Orlando Poet Laureate Shawn Welcome. A big thank you to all who participated and showed support. We are so proud to showcase these incredible works which highlight travel, community, and connection. If you're passing through our airport, be sure to stop by and read all of the poems in the exhibit, which will be on display on the Community Wall in Terminals A/B (Pre-Security) through September 2nd.

Our CEO, Kevin J. Thibault, recently received the prestigious Government Engineer of the Year Award from the Florida Professional Engineers in Government. Kevin shared: “As a long-standing member of the Florida Engineering Society (FES) for over 30 years here in Florida, it’s quite an honor to be recognized as the FPEG Governor Engineer of the Year. We have a tremendous amount of talent throughout the state, and for them to recognize me is very humbling. I’m glad to be able to share my engineering expertise with the rest of the state.” Congratulations, Kevin, on this well-deserved recognition and thank you for your ongoing contributions to our state.
