About us

Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity helps individuals and families achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seek to put God's love into action by building homes, communities, and hope. Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman, and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. • Today, we are thrilled to welcome GH Phipps Construction Companies, whose team, in collaboration with the CTE Construction Pathway Program students, has helped build homes together with our future Habitat homeowners. Their role in placing trusses and installing windows has given our students hands-on construction experience and opened their eyes to different pathways into the construction industry. GH Phipps offers valuable pathways for individuals interested in construction careers. Their internships and apprenticeships, including those for our CTE program graduates, are instrumental in shaping the future of our students. We were equally excited to have Dr. Pilch join us at Hope Springs, and her efforts have created unique opportunities for students from low-income and high-barrier households, connecting them with community partners like GH Phipps. Dr. Pilch's exceptional leadership, recognized with the CASE Superintendent of the Year for Colorado award, has been pivotal in developing the CTE program. This program, which allows students to earn college credit for free through a partnership with Aims Community College, is a significant step toward their future careers. These partnerships have truly opened doors for our CTE students, often leading to internships, job opportunities, and new perspectives on different career paths. We want to take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude to Dr. Pilch and our fantastic #communitypartners like GH Phipps for their unwavering commitment to these students and their support of our mission. Along with their dedication to volunteering, we also thank GH Phipps for their generous Foundation donation! Together, we are dedicated to building hope, homes, and self-sufficiency with students of the Greeley-Evans School District 6 and for hard-working families in our community. #buildstrong #thankful #makeadifference #communitypartners #Feelgoodfriday #bethechange #volunteersmakeadifference

  • It was a delightful day yesterday spent with our #communitypartner Oxy! This amazing team's efforts to put up siding and insulation on the homes of two deserving families have brought these homes one step closer to becoming a dream come true! We are honored to be able to work alongside Oxy, who consistently demonstrates their commitment to our families, such as helping to fund our Hope Springs development and build a wonderful Nature Discovery Park for all to enjoy. A special shoutout to our Board Vice President, Matthew Wells, who helps organize events, build days, and works hard to uplift families in our community! Thank you, Oxy, for your dedication and support. Their efforts helped to provide a decent, safe place to call home for everyone and significantly improve our community! #buildtogether #wearestrongertogether #innovative #affordablehousing #commUNITY

  • It's not a secret that affordable housing is at a crisis point, and Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity is doing its part to help families achieve their dreams of homeownership. Our CEO, Cheri Witt-Brown was one of the panelists speaking about solutions and innovations at BizWest’s Northern Colorado Affordable Housing Summit, held Thursday at Loveland Yards. Affordable housing can change many aspects of a family's life, such as being able to afford more time to spend with their children, paying for kid's sports or extracurricular activities, healthcare, transportation, and many other vital aspects needed to help a family grow. “Think about what that cycle does for that one kid,” Pete Thrasher, Director of the Everitt Real Estate Center at Colorado State University’s College of Business in Fort Collins, said. “If you can give some of those kids and these families this housing stability, it can kind of circumvent the cycle a little bit. It builds stronger individuals, it builds stronger families, it builds stronger communities. And that’s why.” Cheri Witt-Brown, CEO of Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity, solved at least one piece of the supply problem by getting Habitat into the developing game and created one of the West’s largest affordable housing projects. Habitat’s Hope Springs development in Greeley is bringing more than 300 affordable apartments, a park, and a child-care center within walking distance to schools, grocery stores, and mass transit. The development also includes 174 single-family housing lots from Habitat. “The key in government is customer service,” Deb Callies, Director of Housing, City of Greeley, said. “Think of a developer as your customer. We’re not going to swing the hammer; we need you to. So how do we come together and work for these goals?” Thank you to BizWest for hosting the summit and bringing our community's collaborative efforts together to cooperate and innovate solutions to the affordable housing crisis. #affordablehousing #innovations #buildstrong https://lnkd.in/gEQQX2BJ

  • Nancy Marie Van Anne, a woman of unwavering determination and boundless compassion, passed away on August 26, 2024. We honor her for her philanthropic work and the positive impact she made on the lives of those around her. "While attending the Graduate Theological Union at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1986-1987, Nancy deepened her knowledge of philosophy and theology and learned about Habitat for Humanity. Inspired by this experience, she returned home determined to establish a chapter in Greeley. In 1987, she and other dedicated residents founded the Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity chapter. Nancy’s influence has touched every family served by the organization since its inception, improving countless lives. She continued to mentor the Greeley Area Habitat staff for decades, even until the end of her life. Her incredible spirit will live on in the work of the chapter and the families it serves for generations to come." A Mass of the Resurrection will be today at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

  • We are so excited to announce the completion of Mission Springs! With the invaluable support of Commonwealth Companies, we proudly completed a 95-unit housing development in Evans, Colorado. This project was a top priority as it aimed to replace half of the 200 homes lost in Evans during the 2013 floods in Colorado. The development played a pivotal role in achieving safe and stable homes for hard-working families in our community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our sponsors, including the City of Evans, Habitat for Humanity of Colorado, the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, home sponsors, donors, volunteers, and partners, who contributed to making this development a reality and a resounding success story in Weld County. Your hard work, time, and dedication are truly memorable and have positively impacted the lives of 27 Habitat families. We are excited to move to our newest development, Hope Springs, a 174-home development! #buildstrong #thankful #makeadifference #communitypartners #affordablehomeownership #innovative
