The I-95 corridor through Delaware is critical for passenger and freight movement on the East Coast, also providing local, regional, and national multimodal connections to Amtrak, SEPTA, BWI, Philadelphia International, and more. The interchange with State Road 896 is a major congestion point along both the I-95 and SR 896 corridors in Delaware. Routine and significant backups impact operations and safety along both corridors, particularly during peak traffic periods. Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) proposed a construction project that includes ramp reconstruction, construction of six new bridges, and rehabilitations of nine existing structures. The focus of the project is to decrease the amount, frequency, and severity of crashes. The reconfiguration of this interchange will improve the I-95 traffic affected by merging and diverging through and entering/exiting traffic. Our involvement is scheduled to be completed in 2025 and includes the design of three new curved girder structures for new ramps and the rehabilitation of four existing structures on SR 896. We are also proud to provide oversight and quality assurance for all 15 bridges in the project. Learn more about this project at https://lnkd.in/erQ3_yjm
