About us
The Greenville Homeless Alliance (GHA) is a collaboration of individuals and organizations seeking or creating solutions for an individual or family that lacks a fixed, regular, or adequate nighttime residence. Vision: Safe, affordable homes for everyone in Greenville County Mission: To strengthen the partnerships and broaden support in order to increase options for individuals or families who are experiencing homelessness and who are seeking stability and a safe, affordable home. Goals: Ignite change to end homelessness by convening partners to: 1. Reduce the duration of homelessness for individuals and families by increasing affordable housing options. 2. Hurricane Helene left damage to affordable rental homes owned and managed by our partner, United Housing Connections. We are helping coordinate volunteers to remove debris. Contact GHA Volunteer Coordinator, Julia Bellew, at juliabellew@gmail.com for details. All homes for debris removal are in Greenville County. Please share this information with your network so that the debris can be removed between October 14 - 21. Thank you to Stephen (pictured here) who kicked off removal today! Stay tuned for updates as we work with Monica Bryant, MA. United Housing Connections https://lnkd.in/gyVbifjY owns or manages more than 150 single family homes, as well as 254 multi-family units, across the Upstate. Each of these units is considered an affordable home, and they are deeply committed to expanding accessible housing options across our community. For over 25 years, United Housing Connections has been on a mission to make homelessness a brief, rare, and nonrecurring event. #gvlhomes4all #HurricaneHelene #ConnectedCommunity

Today, October 10, is World Homelessness Day. Join us for the live screening and panel discussion. Register here: https://lnkd.in/eg7H6zDR. Partners of the Greenville Homeless Alliance know people experiencing chronic homelessness by name. This year they have worked with our Housing Navigator, DeAndra Hillman, to increase the number of people moving of the streets and out of emergency shelters. She has worked to connect with landlords, property managers, and property owners. Our goal is durable solutions that equal a forever home. #worldhomelessnessday #keepshowingup #greenvillesc #endhomelessness
🔍 Day 4: The Power of Knowing People’s Names 🔍 As we continue our countdown to the premiere of "Keep showing up," today we’re focusing on the power of by-name data. To truly solve homelessness, we must first know the names of those affected. This personal connection through by-name data is essential in improving homeless response systems and ensuring that people remain housed permanently. 🏠✨ Danielle Werder, Senior Department Administrator, Housing Stability for Hennepin County in “Keep showing up” reminds us, "If you're really going to end homelessness, you need to know who is experiencing homelessness, what they need, and have the resources to truly, truly intervene and keep them out of homelessness. Forever housed." With just three days left until our video premiere, let’s emphasize the importance of knowing individuals by name. Share this post to help raise awareness! Use #HomelessnessIsSolvable and #KeepShowingUp to join the conversation! #WorldHomelessDay 💬💙 Will you join us? https://bit.ly/3BwKXJq

Join us and our fiscal sponsor, Community Foundation of Greenville, in supporting local relief efforts! Hurricane Helene caused devastation throughout Greenville County and the larger region and left many of our neighbors without access to essential resources. Our community needs your support and generosity. Together we can ensure that Greenville County receives the support it needs. This is a list of opportunities of where to volunteer and donate goods. The list is not comprehensive but is being updated as organizations respond and make their needs known. Our partners at Affordable Upstate launched an effort today to assist their residents. Please visit this link https://lnkd.in/eZjJaxQ9 from Mario E. Brown to learn more. https://lnkd.in/ebvZy9y8 As Mario says, “Thank you for your compassion and generosity. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.” #connectedcommunity #greenvillesc

Helene's impact in the Upstate has left many of our neighbors without access to vital resources like food, water and shelter. To respond to our community's need, we have launched the United Way of Greenville County Community Relief Fund. 100 percent of your gift to this fund will support these efforts to get resources into the hands of Greenville County non-profits and families struggling right now. We are also helping families navigate local resources. If you or someone you know needs non-emergency assistance, please contact 2-1-1 by dialing 2-1-1 or texting "HELP" or "AYUDA" to 211-211. We hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Our team and our community are working hard to help in any way we can.
