❤️ Today, I want to honor a remarkable individual and friend, Dion Drew, who is an inspiration to me and to all who have had the privilege to work with him. Dion’s story has not only shaped my understanding of the challenges faced by those growing up in poverty, but also showed me how difficult it can be for good people to get a fair chance at a thriving life. Dion’s journey from facing the challenges of incarceration to becoming a supervisor at Greyston Bakery is extraordinary. His determination and commitment to building a better life are a testament to his character and resilience. What always stood out to me about Dion was his deep commitment to creating a loving family and making his mother proud. Dion spoke often about his desire to give his daughter the opportunities he didn’t have and the pride he felt in seeing his mother smile at his achievements. His legacy is one of hope, family, and the relentless pursuit of a better life. Now, as Dion bravely faces a terminal brain cancer diagnosis, we are reminded of the impact he has had on us all. In these difficult times, we have an opportunity to support Dion and his family, ensuring they are cared for as he has cared for so many.
