Went to the Gusto Impact Awards at The Mint Museum yesterday, and it was truly inspiring. ✨ I found out about this event at the last minute, and I’m so glad I did. It was a great opportunity to connect with small business owners in Charlotte, hear their stories, and celebrate the unveiling of a beautiful billboard 🏙️ for grant winner LaToya Faustin from She Built This City. 💪🏾 Being in a room full of people who are passionately building something of their own was so energizing. I’m grateful to everyone who shared their insights and ideas at this event. Below, I’m tagging some of the incredible businesses and founders I connected with—be sure to check them out! If you were there and we didn’t get a chance to connect, drop a comment 💬 or send a request. Let’s keep the conversation going! 🚀 LaToya Faustin | She Built This City Melissa Carnegie Andrew Bosserman Harvesting Humanity LLC. Talk about worthwhile work and a 360 moment! Teaching a masterclass for Gusto on mastering the fundamentals of business with high performing teams and hosting an expert roundtable on growing your team truly brings me joy! When Abby Vandenberg reached out to me last year to ask me to be the Charlotte leader to promote the impact award program for small businesses, and be a judge, I was all in, and I am so grateful! This program was offered in 5 cities and we knocked it out the park with the number of applications from the Queen City! Yesterday, the workshop and reception took place, and it was quite an amazing and interactive celebration! Congrats to LaToya Faustin, She Built This City for winning the grand prize! Congrats also to: Domonique Boone, MBA, Shakieta Maloye, Lynn Leary, Alexandra A. , Deborah D Phillips, and to all who took the time to apply. Tamera Marie Szijarto it was great sharing the stage with you. Morgan Cornelius thank you for keeping all the wheels moving. New friends / amazing presenters, Melissa Carnegie, Dwetri Addy , and Ashley Finney, I'm so glad we met. Keep shining! Gusto does small business well! #gustoimpactaward #gustoimpactawards #gustohq

💡 Solopreneurship isn’t just a trend—it’s a shift in how people want to work. More people than ever are choosing to work for themselves, but outdated policies around funding, healthcare, and taxes are still making it harder than it should be. As Tomer London, Gusto’s co-founder, puts it in Fast Company: “The policies we put in place today will determine whether these entrepreneurs flourish or fail.” So what needs to change? Tomer breaks it all down in his latest op-ed. 🔗 Read it here—link in comments.
