The University of Chicago Healthy Aging & Alzheimer’s Research Care (HAARC) Center seeks to serve as an aging and dementia research hub dedicated to the discovery of factors that promote resilience, resistance, and increased healthspan through multidisciplinary research, community engagement, education, and the development of new evidence-based interventions.

Roughly 20,000 geriatricians are needed in the U.S., but there are currently less than 7,300. A UChicago Medicine program that trains healthcare and community organizations to better meet the needs of aging populations has received more federal funding to help.
