Bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope

About us

Seeking to put God's love into action HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF GREATER NASHVILLE brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Habitat family partnerships enable dignity of life for those who choose it and work to achieve it, help to create safer neighborhoods for more children, and facilitate a pathway of hope for those we serve. The success of our mission is ensured through the generous help of our caring community of donors and volunteers who help us Build Better Lives. Since our founding in 1985, Habitat of Greater Nashville has built or recycled more than 850 homes locally for purchase by families and individuals who cannot afford a conventional home loan. Habitat of Greater Nashville has won 11 consecutive ENERGY STAR awards for Excellence in Affordable Housing from the EPA. Dickson, Cheatham, and Wilson counties are part of Greater Nashville's service outreach. Habitat of Greater Nashville offers three ReStore locations, a greatly expanded Nashville location at 414 Harding Place with over 35,000 square feet of inventory space, where new and gently used items are resold to the public to help support the ministry. Your support is needed to help continue this important work in building and renovating homes for hard-working families. Visit our website at www.habitatnashville.org for more information, and for the ReStore locations, to make a donation, or get more information about volunteer opportunities.

Such a special day, and special moment for our families. So grateful to play a role in making this event happen, and so proud of these new homeowners. Each one has put so much work and so many hours into completing our homeownership program and achieving a MAJOR milestone! So blessed to be working with HFH! 💚

On Sunday, August 11, Rotary members attended the Habitat for Humanity ReStore of Greater Nashville home dedication ceremony to celebrate the newest Habitat homeowners. The Rotary Club of Nashville builds two homes each year alongside a future homeowner. This year, we got to celebrate Latasha as she and her two children completed the process to purchase their first home. Brian Taylor, Clark Spoden, Lauren Lane Payne and Olivia Billingsley Leow were in attendance as we presented Latasha with a $500 Wal-Mart gift card as a housewarming gift from all of us at Nashville Rotary.  We'll build our 15th home with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville on November 1. Learning & Development Leader with a passion to help transform organizations through the development of people.

After living in Pennsylvania our entire lives, my husband and I made the big move to Nashville two years ago. Since then, we’ve often asked ourselves why so many doors opened for us here. This past Sunday, it became evident as I attended my first Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville home dedication at Village by the Creek in North Nashville. 🏡❤️ Watching the joy and emotions on the faces of 6 new Habitat homeowners, I was deeply moved by the power of this amazing organization. Habitat has not only brought us to this city but also continues to build hope and community for so many families.  I’m beyond proud of Paul H., who leads the Construction team, and the entire Habitat team for their dedication to making dreams come true. Here’s to many more dedications and to the incredible work Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville does in our community! 🏡❤️ #HabitatForHumanity #Nashville #Community #HomeDedication #BuildingHope #habitatnashville

  • In 2004, when Habitat of Greater Nashville opened its first ReStore on 8th Ave. S. Jack Fleischer came to the grand opening and never really left. He began donating lighting to the ReStore and then directly as Gift in Kind to Habitat homes. In the fall of 2014, Hermitage Lighting Gallery donated its 300th lighting package to a Habitat home! In the fall of 2024, 10 years later, the 700th lighting package was donated. This incredible partnership continues to this day. In 2022, as part of its continuing shift to online sales accelerated by COVID and evolving purchasing patterns, Jack decided to close the original store location. Prior to passing the keys to the new owner, Jack reached out to Habitat, knowing they would not be taking all of the merchandise with them. This led to one of the largest donations ever to the ReStore when lighting displays, lighting fixtures and other products with a total resale value of over $750,000 was donated. Over the twenty years he has been involved with Habitat, Jack has served as a Habitat Board Member and then as an Advisory Council member after he rolled off the Board. Jack now serves on the Emeritus Council and makes time to attend and actively participate in the meetings. “Habitat changes peoples’ lives and it is the structure of the community they are changing,” says Jack. For his two decades of continuous engagement, support and generosity to Habitat and Habitat ReStore, Habitat of Greater Nashville was happy to have nominated Jack Fleischer of Hermitage Design Center for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Habitat for Humanity State Impact Awards.

  • Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville is elated to share that our very own Torin Dobson was awarded the 2024 Outstanding Employee of the Year award at the Habitat for Humanity State Impact Awards! During his 17-year tenure, he has provided his institutional knowledge to a wide variety of roles he has filled. What sets Torin apart is the number of people who seek him out daily for advice on issues both large and small. Over the years, he has supervised the office receptionist, overseen the contract for the copy machines, painted office walls, shoveled and salted the sidewalks in icy conditions, driven the ReStore donation truck, greeted volunteers at the build site, prepared appreciation lunches for our Supervisors on Site, and been a resource for other affiliates, just to name a few of his many contributions. Carrying out these tasks and many others has been in addition to being responsible for his main role, directing IT and managing cross-functional affiliate projects such as facility relocations and buildouts. His role impacts every department at the affiliate, from construction, to homeowner services, to finance, to development, to ReStore, to HR. His impact transcends the framework of the organization.

HCA Healthcare is proud to team up with Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit housing organization that brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. In HCA Healthcare’s hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, colleagues recently participated in a build experience with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville. During the build, HCA Healthcare volunteers swung hammers, drilled nails and cut wood to facilitate the construction of a new home. The volunteer event was one of eight build experience days HCA Healthcare planned with Habitat for Humanity in Spring 2024. This year, more than 350 HCA Healthcare colleagues have used their time, talent and passion to provide more than 2,400 hours of volunteer support for Habitat for Humanity across the country. Together with Habitat for Humanity, we are working to build stronger communities and healthier tomorrows across the country.
