Introducing the Celsi Monitor for continuous visible monitoring of newborn temperature. This FDA-cleared device is designed for busy hospitals where multi-parameter monitoring is not available. Designed based upon a Target Product Profile built by the NEST360 Consortium, the Celsi Monitor is designed to be visible across a busy ward and to catch hypothermia (and hypothermia) right away. A probe attached to the infant with a non-invasive silicone belt results in highly accurate, continuous measurements of body temperature. We are pleased to be the commercialization partner for this important option in ensuring thermoregulation of newborns. In #GetToKnowNeoTech, we're diving deeper into key questions from our previous post: • What is jaundice? • How does BiliDx improve neonatal care in low-resource settings? Neonatal jaundice, also known as neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, is characterized by yellowish skin, sclera, and mucous membrane due to elevated serum bilirubin. It's a common issue for newborns, with up to 60% of term and 80% of preterm infants affected within the first week of life. While most cases are mild (physiological jaundice), severe cases (pathological jaundice) require attention to prevent neurological damage. Severe jaundice may not be visible until it's dangerously high, especially in preterm babies. This is where BiliDx comes in. It's a low-cost, point-of-care device that quickly measures serum bilirubin levels from a drop of blood. BiliDx helps detect jaundice in under-resourced areas and assess when phototherapy is necessary. By combining BiliDx with phototherapy, we can reduce the risks associated with neonatal jaundice. Here are a few key points: - Quick results in under 10 seconds - Uses BiliDx Test Strip Kit and Lancet - Essential for timely diagnosis and monitoring in low-resource settings Maintenance Tips: - Wipe the BiliDx with 70% alcohol before the first use and between patients. - Do not submerge the device or drip alcohol where the test strip is inserted. - BiliDx will prompt calibration every 25 tests, and it's crucial to follow this. - If the device develops any fault, contact a biomedical Technician or Engineer.
