    Microsoft - Crowdstrike About 8 years ago, as we were developing the business plan for ITEK , I made a bold decision at the time: all of our IT infrastructure, 100% of it, would be cloud-based. We were sailing into the, at that time, uncharted waters of running everything from a browser window. We became a fully online email, applications, storage shop based on Google technology. It also meant betting big on a nascent eQMS firm ComplianceQuest, founded by my dear friend Prashanth Rajendran. We implemented all of our Quality System electronically in their Salesforce-Cloud-based solution. And finally, implemented a self-hosted version of Odoo ERP, that today is the nervous system of our company: running everything from HR to Accounting and Financials to Inventory and Asset Management, from another browser window. We realized then that end-user stations (PC or Laptop) didn't really need a desktop Operating System. So we bet on an unknown OS used mainly in education: ChromeOS (basically a full Chrome Browser running on a very secure Linux based foundation) I still remember how most prospective customers and visitors asked a lot of questions about how to run our business from the cloud, what if the cloud stops working, how to get our data if the storage was not accessible. This morning, big and not so big companies started to shutdown all around us: customers, suppliers, neighbors, completely unable to operate. I am not saying that we are not potentially at risk, but definitely that big bold bet on 21st century technologies of 8 years ago saved the day. The lesson seems to be that we should embrace new technologies and paradigm shifts with caution but never with fear.

    Hace 3 años tomamos la decisión de realizar nuestra primera actividad de integración (Team Building). No es algo muy común hacerlo con todos los niveles de la organización juntos pero, como siempre, nos arriesgamos a innovar! Ha sido un proceso muy rico para aprender nuevas cosas, desarrollar y mejorar nuestra cultura organizacional. Es por eso que desde entonces hacemos una inversión importante de recursos en este proceso.     DISTRIBUCIÓN DEL INGRESO: Empleados Directos: ___Hombres: Representan el 23% de los colaboradores y reciben 22% de los salarios ___Mujeres: Representan el 77% y reciben el 78% Empleados Indirectos: ___Hombres: Representan el 56% y reciben el 47% ___Mujeres: Representan el 44% y reciben el 53% Esto quiere decir que el salario promedio en Empleados Directos es un tanto mayor en las mujeres que en los hombres! Y en los Empleados Indirectos, el salario promedio es significativamente mayor en las mujeres que en los hombres!! Y ¿Por qué sucede esta distribución "anormal" en la distribución del ingreso? Pues muy sencillo: porque hay mujeres colaborando en todos los puestos de la empresa: Producción, Mantenimiento, Calidad, Bodega, Coordinación de Producción, Líder de Producción, Supervisores de Área, Ingeniería, Gerencia, etc. Celebramos entonces que en ITEK las mujeres tienen las misma oportunidades que los hombres de crecer y desarrollarse y recibirán la misma remuneración! #8M #8marzo #internationalwomensday

And in Indirect Employees, the average salary is significantly higher for women than for men!! Why does this "abnormal" phenomenon occur in the income distribution? Well, very simple: because there are women collaborating at all positions in the company: Production, Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, Production Coordination, Production Leader, Area Supervisors, Engineering, Management, etc. We celebrate then that at ITEK women have the same opportunities as men to grow and develop and will receive the same remuneration! #8M #8march #internationalwomensday

    We commemorate (not celebrate) the struggle of women to achieve participation, with equity and parity, in society and in their integral development as a person. Today we had a very interesting conversation in the office about it, and we concluded that we should not confuse the day with congratulating women for their condition, but rather a congratulation is valid as recognition of the continuity of the fight to achieve equality. Like every #InternationalWomensDay , I can boast that ITEK had 72% women and 28% men in our workforce in 2023, something very common in the #medicaldevices and #lifesciences industry. But all this made me wonder: if the struggle focuses on equality, and in our case as an organization, equality is summarized in opportunities, remuneration and elimination of the glass ceiling, then we must go to a deeper level of our analysis: DISTRIBUTION OF THE INCOME: Direct Employees: Men: Represent 23% and receive 22% Women: Represent 77% and receive 78% Indirect Employees: Men: Represent 56% and receive 47% Women: Represent 44% and receive 53 % This means that the average salary of Direct Employees is somewhat higher for women than for men! And in Indirect Employees, the average salary is significantly higher for women than for men!! Why does this "abnormal" phenomenon occur in the income distribution? Well, very simple: because there are women collaborating at all positions in the company: Production, Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, Production Coordination, Production Leader, Area Supervisors, Engineering, Management, etc. That is to say, the percentage of female employees in a company only tells a tiny part of the story. The distribution of income, the opening of opportunities and equal payment for equal work must be taken into account. Peeling the onion even further, 11 positions of increasing responsibility have been internal promotions within the company, which fills us with satisfaction because we are growing organically. But the icing on the cake: 82% of those historical promotions have been women and 18% have been men. In short, it is very easy to publish memes and slogans "celebrating" Women's Day, which has no intrinsic value. It is more relevant and important to create an organization where opportunities are given and performance is rewarded without considering gender.
