CAT Alert: Tropical Storm Debby – Advisory 13 Halliwell has mapped out the track of Tropical Storm Debby from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) 11:00 AM EDT Advisory 13. From the NHC: Debby's center made landfall in the Florida Big Bend region earlier today around 1100 UTC with an estimated intensity of 70 kt (approximately 80 mph). Since landfall, the system has moved over northern Florida while gradually weakening below hurricane intensity to approximately 60 kt (69 mph). Steering currents are expected to weaken some more, resulting in a further decrease in forward speed. Most of the track guidance turns Debby eastward, with the center moving off the coast near the Georgia/South Carolina border by late Tuesday. Debby should move very slowly near the South Carolina coast through Thursday. Then, a mid-level ridge builds slightly to the northeast of the cyclone which should push the system back inland over the latter part of the forecast period. Continued weakening is expected while the center of Debby remains over land tonight and Tuesday. By late Tuesday and thereafter, some restrengthening is anticipated as the center moves offshore, however, the amount that the cyclone re-intensifies is dependent on how far out over the Atlantic the system moves and how long it remains over water. The current official forecast shows only modest restrengthening, given the uncertainties. Going forward, the biggest threat from this slow-moving system is extreme precipitation and flooding over the southeastern United States. The Halliwell CAT Response Team is prepared, has capacity, and is on standby ready to respond to any losses that might be brought by this storm. Please reach out to catclaims@halliwellglobal with any storm-related claims or with any questions regarding this storm. Watch for additional updates as the storm progresses and please stay safe this hurricane season! #CATalert #2024CATseason #Halliwell #claims

CAT Alert: Tropical Storm Debby – Advisory 9 Halliwell has mapped out the track of Tropical Storm Debby from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) 11:00 AM EDT Advisory 9. From the NHC: Heavy rainfall will likely result in flooding impact from the Florida Big Bend region through Southeast Georgia and the Coastal Plains of the Carolinas. Historic rainfall across southeast Georgia and South Carolina through Friday morning may result in catastrophic flooding. Significant river flooding is also expected. There is danger of life-threatening storm surge along portions of the Florida Gulf Coast with 6 to 10 feet of inundation above ground level expected in areas between Ochlockonee River and Suwannee River on Monday. Hurricane conditions are expected on Monday along portions of the Florida Big Bend region where a Hurricane Warning is in effect with tropical storm conditions beginning this evening. CAT Alert: Potential Tropical Cyclone 4 (PTC4) Halliwell has mapped out the track of PTC4 from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) 11:00 AM EDT Advisory 1. Advisories have started on a tropical wave defined as Potential Tropical Cyclone 4 (PTC4) currently over Cuba due to a forecast of favorable conditions this weekend allowing for intensification to Tropical Storm Debby over the next 36 hours. The track is forecast to become more north-northwesterly paralleling the Florida Gulf Coast. The NHC is uncertain regarding when a turn to the north-northeast will occur. This will determine how long PTC4 remains in ideal conditions for intensification. The current forecast is for a Tropical Storm with peak sustained winds of 65 mph making landfall north of Tampa. Re-intensification is possible once the storm exits Florida into the Atlantic on Monday. Tropical Storm Watches are issued for the Florida Keys south of Card Sound Bridge, and along the Gulf Coast between Bonita Beach and Aripeka (including Tampa). A Tropical Storm Warning is issued for the Florida Gulf Coast south of Bonita Beach Watch for additional updates as the storm progresses. #CATalert #2024CATseason #Halliwell #claims
