The M-Powering Teachers project, a collaboration between MQI Coaching, Stanford University Graduate School of Education, and University of Maryland College of Education, wrapped up the year by gathering at the AIMS Collaboratory Convening. Our team members came together in NYC, joined by partner Guilford County Schools and a community of networks committed to improving math learning for priority students. The team shared updates on the development and piloting of automated feedback technology used in instructional coaching. Collaborative discussions emphasized the potential impact of this work and highlighted new ideas that will carry us into the new year. Stay tuned for updates in 2025! In Randolph County, WV, MQI Coaching didn't just change classrooms—it transformed an entire district. Tammy Tucker, a math curriculum specialist, introduced this evidence-based model, and the results were both profound and lasting. As Tucker recalled, "The principals noticed...these teachers were different." Teachers evolved into a collaborative team of mathematicians, sharing data and best practices to drive student success. Years after adopting the MQI rubric, the legacy of the MQI model continues to thrive, with teachers remaining committed to embedding MQI practices into their instruction. As one teacher reflected, “As teachers, we often look forward, teaching lesson after lesson toward an end goal.” Looking back is difficult but crucial. The MQI helped them reflect on video from past lessons, enabling small, incremental changes that soon added up to a district-wide transformation.
