About us

The Hawaii Executive Collaborative is a group of business and civic leaders dedicated to making Hawaii a better place. This group is committed to the CHANGE framework, a movement to create an environment where everyone has the ability to make a living and thrive in Hawaii. These leaders pledge to strategically align themselves with the different CHANGE sectors to assess issues, share data and present findings so that we can move the needle on persistent issues that plague our state, such as education, affordable housing, health and wellness. In 2020, the Collaborative will focus on early childhood learning (universal preschool), housing affordability and making sure all of Hawaii’s people are counted in the 2020 Census.

Today, as we mark one year since the Maui fires, we remember the 102 precious lives that were lost, and hold tight to the memories of our special places. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to everyone here in Hawaiʻi, across the United States, and around the world for showing Maui your aloha. Together, we are finding our way forward to restore Lahaina and Upcountry Maui to their fullest potential. #MauiStrong

  • Today, we remember the precious lives lost and the Lahaina community that was forever changed one year ago. The grief is still heavy, and much uncertainty remains, but many on the ground are actively working towards rebuilding a Lahaina that serves the local community and honors its culture and history. Continuous acts of kindness are providing hope and resilience as residents continue to piece their lives back together. We are committed to being part of these efforts. 📷: Jarin Kobashigawa, aio Hawaiʻi – Kīpuni Aloha no Maui, Thomas Square Vigil, September 1, 2023.

  • On Monday, Hawai‘i lost one of its great leaders. Twinkle Borge, beloved village leader of Pu‘uhonua O Wai‘anae, dedicated her life to serving people and building community. She was a living embodiment Hawai‘i’s Soul. We had the honor of learning from her and working with her, as she was part of the first group of respected leaders that came together to develop the possible futures of Hawaiʻis Soul. It was the work of these individuals that helped to lay the foundation for the Rediscovering Hawaiʻi’s Soul initiative, demonstrating what can be accomplished when we come together. To us and so many others, she was ʻohana.    Our hearts are with all the people that she passionately served. We will continue to build on the firm foundation she created for Pu‘uhonua O Wai‘anae, honoring her legacy by living and leading with aloha, and by keeping the community at the heart of our work. 📷: Josiah Patterson

  • We are honored to share that the broadcast of the 'Kīpuni Aloha No Maui' live statewide, day-long vigil for Maui, won two Hometown Media Awards at this year’s annual Alliance for Community Media national conference in San Jose, California. This event, produced in partnership with Rediscovering Hawai'i's Soul and Public Access Television Stations in each county, included sunrise, noon, and sunset ceremonies that united our islands in a powerful display of resilience and aloha. A heartfelt mahalo to our partners and everyone who tuned in to support Maui.

  • We were honored to participate in the Hawaii Business Magazine Leadership Conference on July 19! It was an inspiring day as we discussed the Rediscovering Hawaiʻi’s Soul initiative, exploring the essence of Hawaiʻi through deep conversations about our values, history, and the collective efforts needed to preserve our island home. Mahalo to all who joined us in reimagining a thriving, inclusive future for our islands! 📸 Aaron Yoshino/Hawai‘i Business Magazine
