TriStar Health is proud to announce a significant achievement in cardiovascular care! Our dedicated cardiovascular services team at TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center successfully performed the first electrophysiology (EP) ablation in Sumner County. This advanced procedure addresses complex heart rhythm disorders by examining and mapping the heart's electrical system to pinpoint and correct electrical "misfires." If a patient suffers from cardiac arrhythmia, an EP study is able to determine the location of the misfire, which is then targeted and corrected through ablation. This #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, we are proud to share the inspiring story of a young TriStar Summit Medical Center patient who has battled cancer, become a new mom and is starting a support group. Erin Ackerman was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 34 weeks pregnant. Erin and her team at TriStar Summit Medical Center decided to induce because of treatments needed and eventually a tumor removal. Her daughter, Willow, was born healthy and happy. Erin recently celebrated one year cancer-free, and she is now starting a new Breast Cancer Support group for women under 40 with one of her friends. Erin says, “Thank y’all so much for all the support and love. This weekend, 75 colleagues from the TriStar Division were part of a group of 100 HCA Healthcare nurses who traveled to Asheville, North Carolina, to support, assist and provide relief to caregivers at HCA Healthcare affiliate Mission Health. As Hurricane #Helene swept through Western North Carolina this week, it brought torrential rain, widespread power outages and cell service disruptions. Through challenging days, colleagues have selflessly served their community and supported Mission Health patients without hesitation. Colleagues at TriStar Horizon Medical Center recently celebrated a big milestone for 41-year-old stroke survivor, Joanna. After being discharged from the inpatient rehabilitation unit, she attended a stroke support group at the hospital. Following the meeting, the team of therapists celebrated Joanna’s ability to stand and raise her arm. While it may seem like a normal task, this is a big step in recovery for many stroke patients. Today, the HCA Healthcare | TriStar Division announced a $600,000 gift to Meharry Medical College to support paid internship and scholarship opportunities over four years for graduate students in the School of Applied Computational Sciences (SACS). This investment is part of HCA Healthcare’s $10 million pledge to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs). Meharry Medical College is one of the nation’s oldest and largest historically Black academic health science centers. In addition to a medical school, Meharry Medical College is home to a dental school, graduate school and applied computational sciences school. Founded in 2021, Meharry’s SACS offers both M.S. and Ph.D. Data Science and Biomedical Data Science degrees. HCA Healthcare and TriStar Health have a long-standing relationship, with many Meharry students going on to practice at TriStar Health hospitals. Members of HCA Healthcare leadership have also served on Meharry’s Board of Trustees. In addition, TriStar Health hosts Meharry medical students during their third-year clerkships at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center for family medicine and TriStar Skyline Medical Center for emergency medicine. Our TriStar Health colleagues strive to connect with each patient and ensure they are cared for like family. As we enter wedding season in Tennessee, we're sharing Seth and Courtney's sweet story. Seth and Courtney are newlyweds who are part of the nursing team at TriStar Horizon Medical Center. They met working at a local skilled nursing home but transitioned to TriStar Horizon as nurse externs to gain hospital experience as they attended their respective nursing schools. Seth recently graduated and passed his NCLEX, and Courtney will graduate in December. They shared, “Working at the same hospital as our spouse is really cool! We can share each other’s experiences. It’s also helpful to have someone who understands what it’s like to be in our shoes.” We are so grateful for Seth and Courtney and their commitment to providing compassionate care to our patients. TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital celebrated the groundbreaking for TriStar Lovers Lane ER in Bowling Green late last month. This is the region’s first and only freestanding ER. The 11,000-square-foot, 11-bed facility will feature exam rooms, triage, trauma bay, advanced imaging, lab and pharmacy in one of the fastest-growing areas of Warren County. We cannot thank everyone enough for the support of the TriStar Lovers Lane ER groundbreaking ceremony.
