Our holiday poinsettias are budding! We stuck them in July, and here’s a glimpse of how they’re growing. We expect to have 90,000 poinsettia plants—rich with deep red bracts and dark green foliage—available this year. And as always, we have special discounted pricing for fundraisers, as we’re dedicated to helping nonprofits raise funds. Details @ https://lnkd.in/gFCQMpFe

HUGE NEWS! We just pledged a $50,000 donation to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to support the restoration of the Howard C. Brown Horticulture Greenhouse Complex and further the university’s learn-by-doing approach to agricultural education. Steve Costa, our president, graduated from Cal Poly in 1978 with a degree in Horticulture. Throughout the years, he’s collaborated closely with the horticulture department to enhance student learning. And now, he’s incredibly proud to support the enhancements and repairs for the college’s 18,000-square-foot ornamental horticulture facility which plays a significant role in helping students learn about landscape and horticulture installation and design; vegetable production; floral production and design; and disease and pest control management. ------------------- Pictured: Headstart's Steve Costa (president) and Lisa Branco, MBA (sales manager) at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo’s greenhouse unit

Every year, we proudly support Farm Day -- a rewarding program that teaches youth about the importance of agriculture, healthy foods & the benefits of farming for our community and the world at large. Farm Day returns this year on November 7th in Monterey County and is in need of volunteers. Want to make a difference? Learn how ⬇️
Dear Friends, I hope this message finds you well! I'm reaching out to share an exciting opportunity to volunteer at the upcoming Farm Day hosted by Monterey County Ag Education. This special event will take place on Thursday, November 7th, at the Salinas Sports Complex, and we would love your support. Farm Day is a unique educational program that introduces third-grade students from Monterey County to the world of agriculture. We need volunteers to help make this event a success, and your involvement would mean a lot! We are specifically looking for: Seed Scientists: You'll deliver short (about 10 minutes) hands-on presentations about seeds. No need to be an expert—just a passion for sharing knowledge! Feel free to bring along some fun props like seeds and fresh produce to engage the students. Tour Guides: As a tour guide, you’ll lead your assigned class through various activity areas. Don’t worry; teachers and chaperones will be there to help keep the excitement in check. If you can hold a clipboard and say, “Follow me!”—you’re perfect for this role! Volunteering only takes a few hours, and as a thank you, you’re invited to stay for a catered BBQ lunch after the event. This initiative is made possible by dedicated volunteers, community members, and generous agricultural businesses. If you're interested or know someone who might be, please sign up online at Monterey County Ag Education, link in the comments. For any questions, feel free to contact me or Farm Day’s Coordinator, Candi DePauw, at (831) 905-3669. Thank you for considering this opportunity to inspire young minds and make a difference in our community!
