Yesterday Kat and Lisa had Otto Sipe, CEO of Photon Health, on for the Health Tech Talk Show. What did he tell us? Obviously the Photon Health - Arrive Health - Sempre Health was the best party of #HLTHUSA. Followed by the Photon Health after party. This is now boring, because Photon always has the best parties. BUT strong runner up awards to Blue Shield of California BluePath Health for always throwing a party with great vibes--probably because Shruti Kothari is there. And because we love Hong Truong we love the Define Ventures party, too. Best dinner party where people actually meet, stay and talk goes to Luminary Labs, shout out Sara Holoubek & Ben Alsdurf! Best booth, also annoyingly, goes to Photon with their Blockbuster mock-up. What else was exciting at the HLTH Inc. big shabang conference? #AI and #GLP1s as expected. Also surprise guest Brendan Keeler was sad he did not get the invite to the secret anti-Epic party. FYI y'all he had a great podcast with Stacey Richter of the Relentless Health Value Podcast re: interoperability and anti-trust autumn. What else? Otto says PBMs have another side and can/could provide value with some re-orientation. His next assignment is to find a PBM leader who can tell us about this. Also, STAT continues its attack on UnitedHealth Group, and congrats to CareBridge for their not at all small acquisition by Elevance Health. We had very legitimate guests on the show: Ryan Howells told us that pharmacy interoperability is trash but he has a plan to fix it (he needs volunteers from payers, pharmacies, all the people) and then he got into a fight with Lisa B. about digital identity in healthcare. Sounds like a lot of friction in that process. Check out CARIN Alliance for more on that. New special AI/LLM correspondent (he is learning by way of this post that this is his new unpaid job) Timothy Nobles of Integral came back on the show to tell us if AI is real in healthcare yet, and what we do with all of the deformed zombie cats we are spawning with bad healthcare data. Anthropic vs OpenAI? He gives Anthropic the current edge. Melissa Denino made things happen as usual and Michael Marchant has a brand new Mike on the Street video with Pooja Babbrah of NCPDP (National Council for Prescription Drug Programs, Inc.) dropping SOON! Stay tuned, loyal fans.

We had our last live Health Tech Talk Show of HLTH Inc.'s #HLTHUSA conference this morning! And Lisa and I had so much fun during the live shows and everywhere else. Special shout out to Health Tech Nerds for having built the best community! We always have fun at your events. Thanks as always to our boss Melissa Denino for making everything happen. We'd be useless without you. You even accommodated the 200 CancerX friends who showed up for the show this morning.

We learned about investing in European health tech start-ups with Pooja Majmudar, PhD and we'll see her at HLTH next week! Melissa Denino supported the show from the back of her truck/jeep/etc. Michael Marchant kept the energy high in comments, we revealed Michael Meucci's new headshot and we all were impressed that Lisa B. was still standing after throwing an epic and attendance record-breaking conference in Detroit this week. Live shows at #HLTH2024 are at 10am PT and 2pm PT on Monday, and 10am PT on Tuesday. We'll release our guest roster tomorrow, probably. Lina Khan! Come on our show!

There's no show this Friday - but we'll see you at Lisa's conference next week in Detroit (aka the Civitas Networks for Health annual conference)! Don't know how you'll make it without us? Don't worry, Michael Marchant is here for you with a new episode of "Mike on the Street," with fan of the show, interoperability pioneer and everyone's favorite left-of-center health tech nerd Scott Stuewe of DirectTrust! Kat and Lisa had big fun on yesterday's Health Tech Talk Show. First, wild news all week: See Otto Sipe on X for what's happening w/ PBMs, Surescripts and CVS Health. See Nikhil Krishnan on X for good thoughts on Omada Health and Hinge Health and their S-1 filings. More tktktk on Epic and Particle Health - see HIStalk for the anonymous poll on which party has the stronger case. We'll see if Carequality "releases the tapes" which allegedly both parties have agreed to do. Gave your data to 23andMe like most of America? Congrats! It's going to get sold to the highest bidder. Biggest news obviously is that the team will be at #HLTH24 doing three live shows - want to snag our last spot? Melissa Denino is in charge of that. We had a super fun conversation with Michael Meucci, CEO of Arcadia, about EHRs, innovating in a market served by mega platforms and what's going to happen with value-based care. We also met Pickles and Florence. Big fans over here. Kat's work mom, Miriam Paramore, CEO of RxUtility and advisor to Goldman Sachs, came on the show to tell us about the $10B in savings available to patients...that they don't know about, and their providers don't know either. She also brought visual aids! She's talking about coupons from pharmaceutical companies. No show next week ahead of the holiday weekend--we will be on airplanes and doing other things. But! Very likely we will release Michael Marchant's newest episode of "Mike on the Street" featuring Scott Stuewe during the DirectTrust Summit!
