A big shoutout to My Boomer Radio and Dave Wingert for having us on as a guest this morning to promote Heartland Family Service's new Nebraska Peer Center. Dave was joined by HFS Peer Center Coordinator Beth Boell and HFS Communications Manager Paul Gutierrez. The Peer Center, located at our Benson Campus, serves anyone with a mental health diagnosis in need of friendship and support. This interview took place on the day of World Mental Health Day. The center is now the second one to be in operation. The other HFS Peer Center is located in Council Bluffs. #heartlandfamilyservice #worldmentalhealthday #peercenter

Today is Wellness Wednesday! This week, we’re offering tips about what you can do to find purpose in your life if that’s a struggle for you. If you feel like you’re stuck in a rut, you’re certainly not alone. Here’s what you can do to get energized:   Uncover the root of the issue. Understanding what’s dragging you down is crucial to changing your life. Once you pinpoint what needs to happen, you can start paving a path to a better place emotionally. Self-reflect. Think about what kind of activities bring you joy. If nothing springs to mind, what’s something you’ve always wanted to try? What do you want your life to look like? Chart a course with clear goals. Make sure those goals are clear and achievable. That will give you a sense of direction and something to focus your energy on. Also, make sure to celebrate small steps and victories along the way. That’s going to help you find the motivation to keep moving forward. Be patient with yourself. You won’t break free from a rut overnight, so don’t let that be the expectation. It’s best to break down goals into manageable tasks. This will give you the opportunity to take a step back at some point and assess your progress. You might even consider getting a journal to keep a record of the steps you’ve taken to find your purpose.   For more information about the services provided by Heartland Family Service, use this link: https://lnkd.in/eDUibKZ #heartlandfamilyservice #findingpurpose #mentalhealth

Today marks the beginning of a week that's dedicated to calling attention to the topic of mental health. In 1990, Congress established the first full week of October as Mental Illness Awareness Week. It is specifically designed to promote greater understanding for those who suffer from it. As an agency that works hard to improve the psychological, emotional and social functioning of individuals and families, Heartland Family Service has plenty of resources available to assist those in need. For a closer look at how our agency can help, click here: https://lnkd.in/gpcPpSc6 You can count on HFS to help you and your loved ones overcome challenges! #heartlandfamilyservice #mentalhealth #awarenessweek

Wellness Wednesday is here again! This week, we’re offering tips about what you can do to overcome disappointments in life. On the road to any journey, whether it’s centered around emotional/physical well-being or something else, you may encounter bumps in the road that may make you feel like you’re failing. Here’s what you can do to not get discouraged: * Avoid isolating yourself. This can often lead to anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts and a weakened immune system. Too much time alone can be detrimental to your health. * Seek support. There’s no shame in asking for help. In fact, it’s best to surround yourself with positive people. Your environment can make a big difference in how you confront and cope with disappointment, so surround yourself with people who will continuously motivate you. * Don’t compare yourself to others. That will only increase your fear of failure and lead to unnecessary competition. * Never give up. Make yourself understand that giving up is not an option. Disappointment does not define who you are and your future. We all fall short in different aspects of life, but it doesn’t mean your life is over. On your journey to well-being, keep trying! Wellness Wednesday is here! Did you know financial wellness can be tied to your physical and emotional well-being? Money is something that can be a huge stressor and have a major impact on your health. Here's how you can make it easier on yourself: * Use a budget: A budget can help you identify where your money is going and reduce wasteful spending. You can use a budget to see if your expenses are exceeding your income and identify areas to cut back. * Be aware of how you spend your money: Good money management can reduce stress and anxiety, which will allow you to focus on other important aspects of your life. Aligning your spending habits with what matters most to you will help you reach any financial goals you might have. * Pay yourself first in a savings account: This is essentially building a long-term nest egg. The goal is to make sure that enough income is first saved before monthly expenses are made. This will help with any long-term goals you might have and can be important if an emergency comes up. Wellness Wednesday is here again! This week, we're offering tips about what you can do to stay organized if you find you're struggling to do so. Here's what can help: * Make a daily priority list: It helps you stay focused and productive. You can visually break down what you need to do and when. This can help you focus on the most critical tasks first and determine which tasks are urgent and which you can complete later. * Declutter your work space: Messy spaces can inhibit one's ability to concentrate, which can cause anxiety and stress. If you're not sure where to start, try categorizing your items such as documents, electronics, personal items, etc. * Keep track of things in a calendar: This can give you a sense of control. Seeing your entire schedule in one place can help you feel more in control of the things you have to do and can predict potential conflicts. #heartlandfamilyservice #organization #stayingfocused
