Today is World Suicide Prevention Day.  For the next few years, the theme focuses on changing the narrative around suicide. I encourage you to be part of this change. Chances are your life has been touched by suicide. Mine has — I've lost loved ones to suicide, and the pain is immeasurable. Over 700,000 people die by suicide every year. We need to have difficult conversations, increase access to treatment, and improve education. There's a level of suffering that makes many uncomfortable, but we must meet it with empathy, support, and compassion. My work at Therify and in my practice is dedicated to optimizing the mental health of people in our communities. As a Filipina, a child of immigrants, a psychologist, I don’t take what I do lightly. Silence won’t rid anyone of suffering. I am here to be a voice and I urge you to join me. Here are suggestions from the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) on how you can change the narrative: - Check in with loved ones - Keep informed - Share your story -Advocate for mental health awareness The IASP suggests that organizations: - Facilitate training and education focused on mental health concerns - Promote supportive workplaces - Embrace corporate social responsibility Let's bring more understanding and openness to this issue. Your actions can save lives. Remember, if you're struggling, you're not alone. Help is available. Reach out to a mental health professional or a crisis helpline (text 988; Text HOME to 741741). You are important and your presence makes a difference. 🙏 #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #ChangeTheNarrative #MentalHealthAwareness

We're excited to share the launch of "In Pursuit Of," a show about people leaders from the most innovative companies in the world, and the stories behind the careers they've built. Our first episode features Brooke Adair, Head of Mid-Market Sales at Ironclad. Brooke and our CEO James Edward Murray explore how mental health influences sales team performance and best practices for sales leaders to support the well-being of their teams. 3 tips for sales leaders from Brooke: 🗓 Model Behavior. Place events on your calendar that signal your dedication to mental well-being. This could include publicly blocking time on your calendar for mid-day walks or weekly therapy sessions. This could also mean respecting the boundaries of your PTO and having a clear coverage plan. 🤝 Create Shared Language. For example, you can ask team members if they are "Above the Line" or "Below the Line." When you're above the line, you're in a good headspace and feel optimistic. When you're below the line, you may be struggling emotionally and feeling pessimistic about what's ahead of you. 🧡 Start the Conversation. Check in on the human side of your team members. Show empathy and compassion by learning about their family and understanding important aspects of their lives outside of work. "When you go into battle, you can't do it with weary and tired soldiers and expect to win the war." Taylor C., Director of DEI and Strategic Partnerships at Critical Mass, shared some valuable insights last week during our webinar titled "Beyond Burnout: HR Strategies for Supporting Mental Health in Advertising."   In the following excerpt, Taylor tells our CEO, James Edward Murray, about Critical Mass' people-first approach to employee well-being, which fosters a flexible and psychologically safe environment where all employees can thrive. From James Edward Murray, CEO and Co-Founder of Therify: "When my mental health hit rock bottom in 2018, the road to healing seemed impossibly long. It wasn't like breaking a bone, where the time required to heal would be semi-predictable. You can't predict how long it will take to find healing from anxiety, depression, and grief – which is why I was so lucky to find long-term and affordable care through a therapist who accepted my insurance. That's why I'm so proud of Therify's approach to care, where 99% of our members are matched with a licensed therapist who accepts their insurance. It can be hard to find high-quality, in-network providers, but they still exist in large quantities and Therify works on behalf of our members to find them. In addition to improving access for our members, our approach reduces out-of-network utilization for self-funded employers, resulting in lower claims costs. And for fully insured employers, why drive your costs through the roof by sponsoring sessions when Therify can make it easy for employees to use the insurance coverage you're already paying for through monthly premiums? I'm so excited about the work we're doing to improve access to care while making it easy and affordable for employers to invest in the well-being of their people. Together, with our partners, we're changing lives every day."
