On a mission to ensure all children have a safe, stable homes
About us
Henrico CASA promotes safe, healthy homes for every child in Henrico County, especially those vulnerable from abuse and neglect. #ChangeaChildsStory We train and supervise volunteers who help our county's most vulnerable children thrive in safe, loving homes. These volunteers are called Court Appointed Special Advocates, aka CASAs, because they are appointed by judges serving in the Henrico County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court to speak up for the best interests of children experiencing possible abuse and/or neglect. CASA volunteers build a relationship with the child, gather information, and collaborate with professionals in order to make a recommendation to the court. As our judges often note, these recommendations are vital to making the best decisions possible on behalf of vulnerable children. CASA volunteers provide "unbiased reporting of the circumstances to assist the court with making a better informed decision." - Judge, Henrico Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court

Meet Melvin (Mel) Tull, our current Board Treasurer! Why is Mel the perfect guy for the job? He has a law degree from the University of Virginia, an accounting degree from Virginia Tech, and extensive senior leadership experience... but what really makes him right for the job is his commitment to his community, as demonstrated by his participation with Leadership Metro Richmond, Lead Virginia, and Children's Home Society of Virginia. Thank you, Mel, for supporting Henrico CASA in this meaningful role! We appreciate you!
