Our team celebrated several achievements at the Georgia ASLA Awards Gala on Tuesday! Steve Sanchez received the 2024 Presidents Award and was the event’s featured speaker, delivering an inspiring talk about his journey of introducing native plant species into commercial trade. We're also proud to announce that our projects, Town at Trilith and Chattahoochee Nature Center, Inc., earned Merit Awards in the General Design category. Thank you to the jury members for providing the great feedback pictured here! Thank you, Georgia Chapter - ASLA, for putting on such a fantastic event!

Well said, Sydney! "We are committed to sustainability, and our Public Park is no exception. The unique stormwater management system allows for eco-friendly retention, while serving as an amenity for the public - complete with interactive fountains, an amphitheater, and greenspaces for the community to gather, which ties into the 140-foot LED tower right across the park." We can't wait to see these public spaces at come to life with the endless possibilities for events, entertainment, recreation, and more!

We are a proud sponsor of this year's Park Pride Parks & Greenspace Conference! We're looking forward to hearing Principal Steve Sanchez speaking on the panel 'Federal to Local: Making Tree Equity a Reality,' sharing insights from his work leading HGOR's Downtown Atlanta Urban Tree Planting Plan. Over 20 years of growth, the proposed tree plantings will increase downtown Atlanta's canopy coverage by 500%. This initiative will not only reduce stormwater runoff in the downtown and adjacent neighborhoods, but also combat the urban heat island effect and capture greenhouse gases, which will create a positive impact on the public health of our surrounding communities. As we honored the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. yesterday, we reflect on the landmarks within Atlanta that allowed him to speak out on injustice and advance civil rights. At Hurt Park in December of 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. addressed a group of ~2,500 civil rights activists at a rally held to demonstrate unity toward the desegregation movement in Atlanta, likely sharing inspiration through principles of justice, love and compassion. HGOR is proud to have a hand in such a historically-rooted project. The renovations at Hurt Park not only provided necessary repairs, but created an equitable space to be used by all. Today, Hurt Park is a place where GSU students, residents and visitors can pass through or gather regardless of race, religion, background or physical ability. It marks a place where we can continue to be inspired by MLK Jr’s words and actions as we work towards a more inclusive world.
