About us

Since 1985, Hospitality House of Charlotte has been the only resource of its kind in the region to provide affordable lodging to families and patients of all ages receiving medical treatment in Charlotte. Charlotte is incredibly fortunate to have world class healthcare systems. At Hospitality House of Charlotte our families have a loved one receiving treatment for cancer, a traumatic injury, are receiving a life-saving organ transplant or are facing other serious illnesses. We provide a place for families between healing and home. Our Overnight Lodging Program offers 20 guest rooms with a bath, a sun room, family room, double kitchen and pantry with food and snacks for our guests to enjoy. We also provide complimentary laundry facilities and supplies, free parking, and complimentary WiFi throughout the facility. All guests are referred to our programs through case managers, nurses, chaplains or other hospital personnel. There is a nominal fee of $50 per room, per night which is a portion of the actual cost to the organization. With a lack of affordable lodging in close proximity to the hospitals in Charlotte, the demand for our lodging programs is high. Each year thousands of guests come to our home in need of lodging and support from all over the globe, and we are honored to help. Hospitality House of Charlotte is a nonprofit organization and relies on financial support from individual donors, corporate support, faith communities and foundations to continue to fulfill our mission each day. We hope you will join us in making a difference. For more information visit our website at www.HospitalityHouseOfCharlotte.org

  • Today, we celebrate Beau Samples' second HHOC anniversary! 🎉 Over the past two years, Beau has been our Senior Operations Manager, ensuring that HHOC runs seamlessly every day. Beau’s dedication and attention to detail have made a significant impact on everyone at the House. He finds the most rewarding part of his role is hearing the gratitude from our guests. Beau shared, “Nearly every single day, patients and caregivers express their gratitude for the work that we do. They shower us in ‘thanks’ and brighten our day, even when they're going through challenging situations.” One of Beau’s proudest achievements was helping our team reach a milestone of 120 consecutive nights without an empty room, maximizing our ability to support families in need. He also values working with a diverse and talented team, noting, "I’ve learned how to manage a team that brings a range of experiences and skills to caring for our guests. I’m available to assist, but they’re the ones providing excellent care 24/7, 365 days a year!" Looking ahead, Beau is excited to continue expanding our visibility with hospital partners to help even more families. We’re so fortunate to have Beau as part of our team! Join us in congratulating him on this special milestone!

  • After 164 days at HHOC, Jahala and Terry truly became part of our HHOC family. They finally got to head home after Terry’s successful double transplant! ❤️ Throughout their stay, Jahala’s sweet personality and willingness to help others made a lasting impact on our staff. Natalie, one of our Operations Managers, said, “Jahala was always a smiling face, even during tough times.” John, our other Operations Manager, added, “No matter what she was dealing with, she remained positive. We’d talk about her worries, but she stayed upbeat. She even managed to keep up with work every single day she was here. That was truly impressive.” We’re missing them already, but we’re so excited for their continued health and healing.

  • Last week, a beautiful new piece of artwork was dropped off at the House! Darby, a sophomore at UNC Chapel Hill and the creator of Doing Our pART, crafted this custom piece inspired by the Charlotte skyline and our HHOC colors. Doing Our pART is a charitable organization that Darby founded to create and donate art to local nonprofits and volunteer services. "I wanted to create something that could add to this safe and supportive environment. Combining my passion for art with giving back to the community through Doing Our pART has been incredibly fulfilling," shares Darby. We are so grateful for this new addition to the House. Thank you, Darby! ❤️

Meet Katharine Plante, the President of our young professionals group, HHYP! ❤️ Kat's time with HHOC began almost three years ago when she was drawn to the House’s mission and the compassionate community that supports it. As the President of the Hospitality House Young Professionals, Kat leads the program with enthusiasm, overseeing volunteer initiatives, recruitment, member engagement, and fundraising efforts. Her leadership has been instrumental in fostering a strong, motivated group of young professionals dedicated to supporting HHOC’s mission. One of Kat's most rewarding experiences with HHYP has been interacting with the guests at HHOC. She finds joy in hearing their stories and witnessing the comfort and relief they experience while staying at the House. “There are so many times when they are expressing their gratitude for the house; it makes my heart smile!” she shared. According to Kat, what sets HHOC apart is the power of the people who believe in and support the mission. Her hopes for the future of HHOC and HHYP include growth in the number of guests served and HHYP members. Katharine’s message to the community is, “Never take your health or your situation for granted. There is good in the world & it is so important to be a part of it.” We are so grateful for Kat's leadership and dedication to HHOC. Thank you for all that you do Kat!
