About us
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine is a global nonprofit organization created by Congress in 1983 to assist in accelerating the progress of military medicine. Our unmatched experience in military medical research makes us uniquely qualified to assist investigators and clinicians in managing scientific research. By providing exceptional program management services, we relieve the administrative burden associated with medical research, empowering researchers to make the medical discoveries our warfighters need. Our mission is to advance Military Medicine and our objectives are clear: to carry out medical research and education projects that provide answers and drive change while removing barriers to success; to serve as a trusted and responsive link between the military medical community, its private partners and American service members, veterans and civilians; to encourage engagement of the medical community for the mutual benefit of military and civilians, who benefit from this work. HJF is committed to supporting Military Medicine serving as the connective tissue between its industry partners and the research environment. We are driven to solve the biggest puzzles and hardest problems by using the resources necessary to support the mission. We anticipate needs, responding at the pace of change to focus on continually adding value to military medical research.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine reposted this
“PEPFAR's impact can be seen in young people like me. I lack the exact words to say thank you, on behalf of other youth living with HIV…PEPFAR has provided us with the medical care, education, nutrition and psychosocial support we need to thrive and overcome the challenges we face. PEPFAR has given us a chance to live, a chance to dream, and a chance to be somebody. It is the reason why we can look forward to a brighter future, and for that we will always be grateful.” - Aron, OTZ champion, HJFMRI, U.S. Military HIV Research Program, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research #PutPeopleFirst #PEPFARSavesLives #PEPFAR Credit: Sarah Day Smith | PEPFAR

Watch Egra’s story and the impact PEPFAR’s DREAMS program has on the lives of young women.
Meet Egra, a chef, entrepreneur and #PEPFAR DREAMS program participant. Through the DREAMS program, Egra received #HIV prevention services, vocational education and economic strengthening opportunities. The DREAMS program provided Egra with the tools she needed to become a chef at a local hotel, and she also earns income from a business she started with a group of DREAMS women. She is financially independent and has a newfound confidence knowing she can do it on her own. Egra’s story is one of many that emphasizes the importance of PEPFAR’s ongoing investment in young women. MHRP Walter Reed Army Institute of Research HJF Medical Research International implements PEPFAR in Tanzania and they have reached more than 130,000 adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) through DREAMS in Mbeya. The DREAMS (Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored and Safe) partnership is an ambitious public-private partnership aimed at reducing rates of HIV among AGYW.
