For over 30 years Oregon Health & Science University has trusted Hoffman Construction to build some of the most complex projects on their campus…while at the same time ensuring that hospitals, clinics, a college, and research facility remain fully operational at all times. We’re no stranger to having to work around fully occupied facilities. Our work at the Portland International Airport (PDX) is a testament to that. But it’s an entirely different story when you’re actively building at a hospital. We don’t have the option of closing off a street and blocking ambulance access to deliver giant trusses, nor can we ever shut off critical power supplies or life-saving medical gas lines. We also constantly adhere to strict infection control protocols to ensure no immunocompromised patients are impacted by our work. Keeping hospitals safe and fully functional at every step of a project is literally a matter of life and death at OHSU, and we take this responsibility very seriously. From OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and the Centers for Health and Healing to the Lamfrom Biomedical Research Facility and the OHSU Core Lab, we put OHSU’s needs first. It’s non-negotiable. We work around sleep lab schedules, regularly check in with nurses, and remain flexible to the myriad of unexpected schedule changes that can occur at any given time at a medical center. Raise your hand if you’re excited for the grand reopening of Washington Park Reservoir! In 2016 we began construction to replace the historic Washington Park Reservoirs with a 12.4-million-gallon underground reservoir. The new reservoir is designed to withstand seismic activity and landslides while serving water to Portland’s west side.     Final construction with Hoffman Construction Company is expected to wrap up in summer 2025.
