These 9 5/8-inch micropiles average 30-feet deep through hard sandstones. The photos show our Comacchio SpA MC8 installing these piles due to the small footprint of the bridge. #TheNameYouCanTrust

Howard Concrete Pumping Company, Inc. has been contracted by Kokosing to install the drilled shafts, micropiles, tie-backs and concrete pumping, on the Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors Canoe Creek Bridge project in Clarion County, Pennsylvania, on Interstate 80. There are 24-each drilled shafts are 84-inches in diameter with 78-inch rock sockets in hard sandstones. They will have TIP testing for non-destructive integrity testing, SID testing for bottom cleanliness and sidewall camera inspection to verify continuity of the rock. There are over 120-each 9 5/8-inch micropiles over 80-feet deep at the four bridge abutments. There will be a verification test and two proof tests at each abutment as well. The soil and rock anchors for the earth retention are required at multiple locations. We have included a number of different designs including post and pressure grouted anchors with both bar and strand due to site parameters. Our long-term partner Intrepid Engineers has provided designs for the anchors and the load testing oversight. A number of our Putzmeister Group, SCHWING Group and Alliance Concrete Pumps, Inc. boom pumps will be utilized on the project because of our fleet diversity and versatility. We have a number of our partners working on the project with us including Nucor Skyline, J.J. KENNEDY, INC., GMS Piling Products, Star Iron Works, Inc., Pile Dynamics, Inc. and Foundation Test Group, Inc. SAI Consulting Engineers, Inc.
