What an honor! Recently, HQ DC House and a number of other Black-owned Washington DC businesses were recognized by the Washington Wizards and their presenting partners Capital One for Black Business Month. They’re not only our hometown powerhouse basketball team, the Washington Wizards has worked with HQ DC House on several occasions to execute their corporate and philanthropic events. At their Black-Owned DMV Partners Luncheon, HQ DC House’s General Manager, Nani Benett, joined leaders from the other outstanding businesses who worked with The Wizards this year. Thank you to The Wizards and the beautiful DMV for continuing to support us and letting us serve you.

Our last #BlackBusinessMonth spotlight highlights one of our very own! HQ DC House member, Howard University-educated dentist, and businesswoman Dr. Arlene A. Asante is the Founder of First Class Smiles Bathesda, a booming, Black-owned private dental practice. #BlackBusinessMonth DC was lucky enough to be chosen as the site of 2024’s A Spectacular Black Girl Art Show! After the massive event, artists, creators, art connoisseurs, and HQ DC House members got together for an equally spectacular After Party to celebrate the artists and organizers of the traveling exhibition. We love to see the joy and engagement Sycamore & Oak is creating in the DC community and were delighted to host one of our karaoke nights at this awesome new space! Sycamore & Oak is a brand new year-round shopping, dining, cultural, and wellness hub that serves as an example of inclusive development, participatory economics, community engagement, healing, and transformation. It’s summertime in DC, so you know what that means! A stunning sunset cruise during golden hour in Chocolate City! Recently, our members boarded a couple of specially-chartered vessels for an evening of pure bliss on the water. Today’s #BlackBusinessMonth feature is none other than Executive Chef, television personality, and entrepreneur Chef Martel Stone! @chefmartelstone is a North Philadelphia native whose work is influenced by all intersections of the African Diaspora His culinary experience is diverse—ranging from high-end to Mom-and-Pop restaurants. He’s worked at Kith and Kin Washington, D.C., and is the Chef/Founder of The Black Supper Collective. Chef Martel is a Food Network competition veteran, judge, awardee of their 2024 Hotlist, and winner of Chopped Next Generation, Guy’s Grocery Games, and Wildcard Kitchen.
