Hunger Task Force delivers fresh produce from our farm to pantry partners across Milwaukee County within 48 hours of harvest. 🥬 Getting fresh fruits and nutrient-dense vegetables can be challenging for many northwest-side residents, and we are proud to provide farm-fresh produce to the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center Food Pantry. Special thanks to our friends at Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for sharing how we're expanding access to healthy foods in neighborhoods across the city. #farmfresh #HungerTaskForceFarm #JournalSentinel #farmtofoodbank

Hunger Task Force is Milwaukee's Free & Local food bank and Wisconsin's leading anti-hunger organization.
About us
Hunger Task Force is Milwaukee’s Free & Local food bank and Wisconsin's leading anti-hunger organization. Mission: Hunger Task Force believes that every person has a right to adequate food obtained with dignity. We work to prevent hunger and malnutrition by providing food to people in need today and by promoting social policies to achieve a hunger free community tomorrow. Our food bank delivers only healthy food--absolutely free of charge--to a network of local food pantries and meal programs in Milwaukee County. Hunger Task Force is the nation's only MyPlate food bank, distributing food that meets federal nutrition guidelines. We operate a 208-acre Farm that infuses half a million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables into our food bank's supply annually. We run innovative programs like the Fresh Picks Mobile Market and a nationally-recognized summer meals program for kids. We advocate for strong federal nutrition programs including FoodShare, school meals, summer meals, WIC and senior nutrition programs Milwaukee is the second poorest city in the country, with a staggering 43% child poverty rate. Each month in Milwaukee County, 35,000 people receive help from food pantries and 60,000 meals are served at soup kitchens and shelters. Hunger Task Force was proud to partner with Advocate Aurora Health at the Advocate Health Pulse Health and Wellness Fest, where our Advocacy Team joined forces with Aurora volunteers to hand out healthy meal kits to local children and families! It was truly a collaborative partnership to encourage healthy cooking at home– our SNAP-Ed team developed the delicious recipe, our Operations sourced the food, and Aurora volunteers helped pack and distribute the kits.
Had a great time passing out ingredient bags at the Advocate Health Pulse Health and Wellness Fest today! Prior to the event, my SNAP-Ed team and I developed a Tex-Mex Soup for event attendees to make at home. Hunger Task Force and Aurora volunteers prepared ingredient bags to hand out to those who were present at the fest. I would say today was a huge success, as we were able to distribute all 500 ingredient bags that we came with. Special shoutout to my hard working husband, Timothy Xiong, who volunteered to help us at today’s event! And thank you Crystal Flenorl for putting together this amazing event and allowing Hunger Task Force to be a part of it!
