IAPHL supports logisticians worldwide where members can network, exchange ideas, and improve professional skills.
About us
Public health logisticians have a critical but often undervalued role in providing life-saving health services. Especially in developing countries, supply chain management is often not recognized as a profession that requires specialized training. The International Association of Public Health Logisticians was established in 2007 to promote the professionalization of the field of public health logistics through education and information sharing. The association supports logisticians worldwide by providing a forum for members to network, exchange ideas, and improve skills. Members come from nearly 150 countries, a variety of professional backgrounds, and represent all levels of the supply chain.

How do you become a supply chain professional in LMICs? The career and educational pathways are often unclear. VillageReach is working with Management Sciences for Health, International Association of Public Health Logisticians and People that Deliver to strengthen educational and career pathways, because you cannot have a high-performing supply chain without a professional supply chain workforce. In two new infographics for governments and their implementing partners, and donors working to professionalize the supply chain workforce, we highlight two common pathways - including both the challenges and solutions. Let's work to create an established, skilled, supported and motivated supply chain workforce: https://bit.ly/3V8vib7 #CareerDevelopment #LogisticsProfessionals #PublicHealth #SupplyChainManagement #WorkforceDevelopment #ProfessionalGrowth

🌍 World Mental Health Day 2024: Prioritizing Mental Well-Being in Challenging Times 🌍 As we mark World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2024, we’re reminded of the critical role mental health plays in our lives—especially in times of stress and uncertainty. Whether you're working in public health, logistics, or any other field, managing stress is vital to maintaining both physical and emotional well-being. At IAPHL, we believe that taking small, intentional steps can make a big difference in how we navigate life’s challenges. Here are some strategies, inspired by the World Health Organization’s stress management guide, to help manage stress effectively: 🗓 Stick to a Routine Having a daily schedule helps create structure and balance. Plan time for work, meals, exercise, and relaxation to feel more in control of your day. 💤 Get Enough Sleep Sleep is essential for recharging both body and mind. Prioritize good sleep habits—consistent bedtimes, limiting screen time before bed, and creating a peaceful sleep environment. 👥 Connect with Loved Ones Stay in touch with friends, family, and colleagues. Sharing your feelings with someone you trust can be incredibly helpful in reducing stress. 🥗 Focus on Nutrition What we eat affects how we feel. Try to maintain a healthy, balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and water. Good nutrition helps fuel both body and mind. 🏃🏽♀️ Move Your Body Regular exercise, even something as simple as a daily walk, can lower stress levels and improve mood. 📺 Limit News Exposure While staying informed is important, too much news—especially during times of crisis—can heighten stress. Take breaks from the news when needed. Mental health is as important as physical health, and it's vital that we take care of ourselves and each other. This World Mental Health Day, let’s prioritize well-being and support one another in reducing stress. As we step into October, it’s a fitting time to reflect on the small yet powerful changes that shape both our personal and professional lives. The Ethiopia Initiative is now in its second month. The Book Of The Month for October has been shared by Selamawit Gebreyesus, – Atomic Habits by James Clear. The book inspires and reminds us that the habits we cultivate either work for us or against us. These habits are the building blocks of who we become—and as a community, they determine how we grow together. IAPHL focuses on small, intentional habits to strengthen our community: - Weekly Office Hours: Convening every Thursday during office hours to connect, discuss, and network. - Spontaneous Calls: Staying open to those unplanned conversations that often spark the most innovative ideas. - Moderated Discussions: Ensuring we have continuous learning through structured conversations on our listserv. - Resources and Tool Sharing: Sharing on the listserv what we’ve learned and the resources we’ve gathered with the entire community. - Networking and Connecting: Building stronger professional bonds that extend beyond the screen and into our day-to-day work. Don’t forget—October is Cancer Awareness Month. Let’s take this opportunity to promote health, awareness, and support for those affected by cancer in our circles and beyond. Wishing you all a productive and meaningful October!
