Meet Blessing Olufemi, a 26-year-old graduate from Nigeria! Blessing seized the opportunity to serve in the horticulture sector by joining the Sustainable Vegetable Production Program Sector Professionals Training under the HortiNigeria Program. This program marked a significant milestone in her development as a professional within the sector. “The program allowed me to establish meaningful connections with esteemed professionals in the sector, fueling my determination to leverage acquired knowledge to venture into vegetable production and nurture a community of like-minded youth who will contribute to reducing the supply gap in the vegetable supply chain in Nigeria,” remarked Blessing. It is with heavy hearts that we honor the memory of Dr. Vo Tong Xuan, a valued member of the IFDC Board of Directors from 2007 to 2017. Dr. Xuan was renowned for his expertise in agricultural science and his passionate advocacy for sustainable agricultural practices. During his decade of service on the IFDC Board, Dr. Xuan’s visionary leadership and collaborative spirit fostered innovation and growth. Dr. Xuan’s work to introduce high-yielding rice varieties extended from his native Vietnam to many of the African countries where IFDC works. He will be remembered as a talented educator and spirited innovator, dedicated to sharing his knowledge to make a difference in the world. We extend our deepest condolences to Dr. Xuan’s family and friends at this difficult time.

Auparavant, Alimata transformait le manioc en attiéké et le vendait directement sur le marché local. Grâce à la mise en réseau des acteurs du partenariat et à l'accès à un marché stable et garanti offert par NanAlim le champion d'affaires, elle peut facilement produire et vendre jusqu'à 60 sacs de pâte de manioc par mois, chaque sac pesant 100 kg. Aujourd'hui, son unité de transformation a créé des emplois pour d'autres jeunes femmes, notamment celles déplacées par la crise sécuritaire.
