Building the Future Green City: A New Collaboration Between IFME and World Urban Parks 🌍 We are pleased to announce the #Utrecht Commitment, jointly agreed upon by the IFME International Federation of Municipal Engineering and World Urban Parks (WUP), during the Future Green City World Congress 2024 in #Utrecht, The Netherlands. This collaboration, borne out of our joint hosting of the congress, underscores the vital role municipal engineers and public works professionals, and urban parks managers and practitioners, play in shaping cities that are sustainable, resilient, biodiverse and vibrant. We recognise that tackling today’s urban challenges requires bridging the expertise of engineering, public works, parks and environmental professionals. A special thanks to Koninklijke Vereniging Stadswerk Nederland for their invaluable role in organising the congress and uniting public works and green professionals. Together, we are committed to promoting nature-based solutions, advocating for green infrastructure policies, and mentoring the next generation of professionals. The Utrecht Commitment is a call to action to foster collaboration, integrate sustainable practices in daily work, and ensure cities that prioritise human well-being and environmental health. We are proud to take this forward and encourage others to join us on this journey toward building the Future Green City. 📄 Read the full Utrecht Commitment and learn more about our collective goals: https://lnkd.in/gypzsUsK #Sustainability #UrbanDevelopment #GreenInfrastructure #FutureGreenCity #IFME #WorldUrbanParks #Collaboration #ClimateResilience #MunicipalEngineering IPWEA | APWA | Landscape Foundation of Australia Ltd | Āpōpō | Maarten Loeffen | Ville Alatyppö | Pieter Wiekeraad 🇪🇺 | Sanne Hieltjes | Scott Grayson, CAE Sibusiso Mjwara PrTechEng GEDP MIMESA FSAICE | IMESA | NKF

IFME International Federation of Municipal Engineering meets PZiTB in Poland In June 2024, Pieter Wiekeraad 🇪🇺, Treasurer of IFME, joined the conference of Deans of civil engineering and building faculties in Polanczyk, Poland. Also, Board Members of PZiTB, the Polish Association on Civil Engineering, were present. Pieter also met Mr. Andrzej Drzewiecki, an individual member from Poland and liaison to the Polish Association. Andrzej joined us in San Diego at the PWX2023 of APWA and is an IFME friend and contact. Andrzej is very determined to get Poland involved in IFME and the international network of civil engineers. Together, we prepared a roadmap to welcoming the Polish Association PZiTB as a member of IFME. Getting new members acquainted with our federation increases the possibility of enlarging our network, as stated in our strategy, which was decided on in Rome 2022. Pieter presented on behalf of IFME and outlined its vision, mission and strategy. He encouraged participants to join the Future Green City World Congress in September 2024 in Utrecht, as organised by the Koninklijke Vereniging Stadswerk Nederland and co-hosted by the IFME and World Urban Parks. Good dialogues were had with board members of the PZiTB, and we discussed the possibility of having one of our board meetings in 2025 in Poland and membership of PZiTB to IFME. Thank you, Pieter and Andrzej, for all your efforts in building the collaboration between IFME and Poland.
