I’m proud to represent the Illinois Manufacturers' Association and join Governor JB Pritzker & Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton, Esq. along with Intersect Illinois, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the Illinois Department of Agriculture on a trade mission to Mexico, one of our largest trading partners. The IMA will join leading business, agriculture and finance leaders along with fantastic local economic development officials and elected leaders as we look to attract new jobs and capital investment to Illinois while growing markets for our manufacturing companies, food processors, and farmers. This trade mission will focus on the importance of deepening economic ties and fostering greater cooperation between the State of Illinois and Mexico. Through this mission, Illinois seeks to strengthen its longstanding partnership with Mexico, paving the way for future investment and shared success. “Illinois is a prime destination for businesses seeking to invest and grow in the U.S. market. Our state's forward-thinking policies, coupled with our rich natural resources, skilled workforce, and world-class infrastructure, make it an ideal place for companies to thrive,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “As we embark on this trade mission to Mexico, we are excited to further strengthen our economic ties and showcase the many advantages that Illinois offers to businesses in North America and around the world.” We’ve been proud to work with Intersect and DCEO and will be joined by many great members of the IMA including ADM, TCCI Manufacturing, ComEd, Ameren, Nicor Gas, Peoples Gas, University of Illinois System, Constellation, International, Illinois Pork Producers Association, IL Corn, Barnes & Thornburg LLP and more. #trade #manufacturing #TeamIllinois https://lnkd.in/gqsfVG_7

IMEC Illinois and the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association hosted a legislative roundtable this morning in Peoria with nearly 20 local manufacturers. Special thanks to Rheo Engineering, a leading material handling and process technology company, for hosting the discussion and facility tour, providing a direct forum with Congressman Darin Lahood. A longtime friend of the IMA and a strong advocate for manufacturing, Congressman LaHood serves on the House Ways & Means Committee, which is responsible for crafting tax policy. Today’s conversation focused on the impact of the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act and key priorities such as 100% bonus depreciation, Section 179 R&D expensing, small business deductions, and corporate tax rates.

Manufacturers are first and foremost concerned about the safety of their employees, customers and communities but this onerous & costly warehouse bill created a chilling threat to our status as a manufacturing, transportation & logistics hub. The Illinois Manufacturers' Association led opposition to this legislation in concert with IMA members (both manufacturing & TDL), both in committee and with the Governor's office, to explain the negative consequences of the legislation. We applaud the Governor's veto. https://lnkd.in/ghHTetSy
