"America’s industrial sector is on track to become the nation’s biggest source of planet-warming emissions by 2035," reports Rhodium Group. According to their recent estimates, the industrial sector is not on track to realize any notable decrease in CO2 emissions by 2035. That doesn't have to be the case. We specialize in net-metered solar projects for large power consumers in heavy industry that can reduce your scope 2 and 3 numbers while also cutting power costs. Let's discuss your options. While ERCOT's CEO predicted a 12% chance of August blackouts, the Texas power grid has, so far, performed well under the strain of extreme heat and record-breaking electricity demand. "Vegas and other officials credited new energy sources that have been brought online as to why it hasn't happened. Most of these new energy sources have been solar, wind and battery storage." #ERCOT #TexasRenewables #ReliableCleanEnergy https://lnkd.in/ex_SXd6J

Texas is facing challenges in meeting the power demands of #datacenters while ensuring grid stability. According to Bloomberg Green, "To keep up with Texas’ soaring energy needs, the state’s grid by 2030 will need to support 152 gigawatts of demand on peak days, almost double what it can currently handle, according to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (Ercot). Data centers and crypto miners, which have also flocked to the state, account for a big chunk of that projected demand." Given the situation in other regions, how will #ERCOT adapt to handle this increased load? For example, AEP Ohio has requested higher financial requirements on new 1MW+ data centers to ensure they pay for the new transmission infrastructure needed to serve them. In Virginia, which has the world's largest data center market, Dominion Energy is advocating for new natural gas plants to meet rising electricity demand, sparking concerns from environmental groups about the state's ability to decarbonize its electric grid by 2050. In the Pacific Northwest, various measures have been implemented to address the growing power consumption from data centers, but the response has been mixed and somewhat contentious. As Texas faces similar challenges, locating new power generation sources closer to the data center consumption (BTM or directly adjacent) could alleviate pressure on ERCOT and utilities and reduce transmission and distribution costs for both the system and electricity users. 🌡️🔌 Extreme heat in Texas is driving up 4CP demand charges in ERCOT, impacting both wholesale and retail markets. Over the past 15 years, 4CP demand charges have increased 150% due to increased pressure on transmission infrastructure. As peak demand spikes continue, so too will the financial burden on customers. "Texas is seeing 'insatiable' desire for electricity..." ERCOT's 2030 load growth forecasts have increased by 40GW in just one year's time. This increase can largely be attributed to new demand from AI, data centers, and industrial electrification. Co-located industrial solar for these types of consumers will be part of the solution that keeps Texas in business and online. Read more: https://lnkd.in/g-WCKF-8 #ERCOT #datacenters #AI
