  • This February, our team celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science and Black History Month with an event organized by the Minnesota Chapter of Women in Network (WiN) and our Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Network. We kicked off with a presentation sharing the stories of trailblazing women, including Rebecca Lee Crumpler, the first Black woman to become a doctor in the U.S.; Gladys Mae West, whose mathematical work contributed to GPS technology; and Mae Jemison, the first Black woman in space. These figures, along with the real-life NASA scientists featured in Hidden Figures, inspired the rocket challenge where employees designed and launched their own paper rockets in a friendly competition. To learn more about how we are building an innovative workplace, read this blog post by Kelly Novak, meteorology analyst, and Juana Sigala, real estate agreement coordinator. https://bit.ly/41VPzDH #BlackHistoryMonth #WomenInScience #GirlsInScience #WomenScienceDay #RenewableEnergy

  • The Apple River Solar project recently announced its pledge of $500,000 in charitable funding over the next 20 years of operations to support local schools in Polk County, Wisconsin. Funds will be distributed directly to the Amery and Clayton school districts, providing resources to enhance learning opportunities and support innovative educational programs. Patrick Sturzl, district administrator for Clayton School District, shared how the funding will make a difference: "The funds provided by Apple River Solar will help to enhance learning opportunities, support innovative educational programs, and ensure that Clayton students have access to the resources they need." Apple River Solar is a 100-megawatt project that began onsite construction earlier this year. Over its first 20 years of operations, it is expected to generate more than $36 million in direct economic impact for the region. • One of the values that drives us is a deep respect for the land we work on. As a farmer-founded company with deep roots in rural America, we understand the pride landowners and communities take in their land. That’s why we’re always looking for ways to protect and enhance its value. With agrivoltaics, we are integrating solar energy with agriculture, and helping landowners diversify their income streams while protecting the land. At our Prairie Wolf Solar Project in Illinois, we’ve partnered with a local sheep farmer to implement rotational grazing. This practice helps us manage vegetation naturally, using sheep instead of gas-powered lawnmowers. The sheep also fertilize the soil, keeping it healthy for future use as productive farmland. Discover how agrivoltaics is shaping our future in this blog by Environmental Lead, Clint Dollahon. https://bit.ly/4k4lF7n #Agrivoltaics #SustainableEnergy #CommunityImpact #SolarFarming #CleanEnergy #RespectTheLand

  • On World Wildlife Day, we recognize the many ways renewable energy can support conservation. Agrivoltaics, where solar panels and agriculture coexist, creates opportunities to restore native prairies, enhance pollinator habitats, and promote sustainable land use. By working closely with ecologists, we explore ways to integrate clean energy with conservation efforts, ensuring that solar projects contribute positively to local ecosystems. From supporting pollinators to providing healthy soils for wildlife, agrivoltaics proves that clean energy and nature can thrive together. Learn more about how our pilot agrivoltaics program supports wildlife and farming. https://bit.ly/4ka5l5i #WorldWildlifeDay #Agrivoltaics #SolarAndWildlife #SustainableFuture #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy
